Need help with Numark DXM01 USB Mixer

Post by morefucd » Sat Apr 12, 2008 4:55 pm

I'm trying to record to my laptop using this mixer and a couple of Gemini MPX40's but the sound quality I get is terrible.

Im just using the normal sound recorder on the Laptop and connecting it to the mixer with the usb port using the supplied cable that came with the mixer.

Any tips on how to record properly with one of these mixers would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm assuming the sound quality isn't so "terrible" because you're mixing on a cheap, quite crap mixer. I have a feeling you may be connecting it to your laptop via the wrong port.. maybe the mic, as opposed to the line-in?

Correct me if I'm wrong. I say this because I've known many a person have the same problem..

you'll blow your sound card if you're sending the line-in to the mic

With the mixer I'm using its virtually impossible to connect to the wrong port because its a USB mixer. One cable comes out of hte back of the mixer and goes into a USB port on the laptop. But do I need to get some kind of recording software? Im using the sound recorder on the laptop and maybe thats why its such poor quality.

I didn't realise twas a USB mixer.

Post a sample of the sound, I'm interested in what "poor" sounds like.
