On the other hand Ben, why do you NEED a crowd of heads to make adventurous bookings and play deeper tunes?

To be honest I'm just arguing for the sake of it, I can completely see your point.

I don't suppose there's much point reading into the motivations behind this, could be for any number of reasons.

don't really care who goes to fwd as long as they're not the sort to start trouble (which i've never seen there) but personally i think this is a great move because it means i won't be able to get embarrassingly shitfaced

Anyone who thinks that going to a club in shoreditch on a Sunday night means that it will have less 'waste element' has not been out in Shoreditch very often on summer sundays...

I look FWD to skanking out along side every pilled/coked/k'd up wreckhead who's still out from the Friday night. Any of you ever go to secret sundaze or Dig your own rave etc etc etc? The anti-drug (except the holy weed, ffs) crowd on here are living in a dream world half the time, the level of naivety that some people display beggars belief sometimes.

It'll be fwd, it'll be a laugh, if there are or aren't people there on drugs or out for a goodtime before the musc then I'm sure you'll all find something else to whine about. "The graff on the bog doors was better when it was on a Thursday"

coked up city boys are generally a lot more of an intrusive, irritating presence than some caner who maybe smoked a bit much and needs to have a sit down.

has nothing to do with being anti-drug, it's more of an anti-idiocy thing.

That's not the type that usually ends up down fwd though is it? City boys are usually over 25, don't generally go to work in flourescent hoodies and don't generally get monged on K on a Friday night. Pop down to PUBLIC LIFE on Commercial St at about 10pm next Sunday and witness what 'smoking a bit too much and having a sit down' is.

This Sunday thing sounds great, I love being able to go out on a bender and I also love going out just to have half a shandy and enjoy some splendid tunes, this means more of the latter I expect. I'm not overly bothered how wrecked people around me are, I've been in messy states often enough, it's twats with bad attitudes out to start a ruc that bother me and that ruin nights. Thankfully FWD doesn't have that problem.

i am myself privvy to a big wasteman session involving as much narcotic substance as I can get my hands on every now and then. Plus I've done it at fwd before. However, conclusion: I don't think pp is the best place to go for this, and especially in a tightly knit scene like dubstep where it can and will offend those that go for the music...and as Ben very wisely points out, its the idiots auto-wheeling tunes and wearing sunglasses and trying to get DJ's attention for a high 5 which are the reason for so much drug resentment at fwd. I'm not against drugs but feel people just need to learn to handle themselves on anything- weed, alcohol or anything harder.

@ Stanton- I don't think fwd would pull the same crowd as secret sundaze, an event known for its debaucherous nature and drug taking antics. Can't say the same for dig your own grave as ive never been, but i guess the name implies a lot. fwd is different in it tries to reach out to the crowd who are there for the music, the drugs coming secondary. With this in mind, im all for the move to sundays (and yes im part of the 7am mondays gang) and im sure there will be other things to attend on fridays if people still want to hear some dubstep.

well to me it feels a bit like luck of the draw on a friday or saturday night, not just at fwd but anywhere in london.

Obviously all you can do is generalise. But generally, I like sunday crowds better than friday crowds, so I'm looking forward to it. I think I'll like the atmosphere more. It's not about going back to the old days or whatever, it's literally just about not really liking friday nights in town.

Also, my epic night bus journeys will be nicer.

Hooray!

Yeah I'm looking forward to it too. I do think PK's idea of not being able to get drunk is wishful thinking however... All day summer Sunday drinking? In the park? Jumpers for goal posts? Followed by a Sunday night skank out? Surely not!

I think this is a great move for FWD>>, when I heard I was delighted.

People need to think about FWD>>'s role in dubstep. Now it's one one many dubstep clubs, but for 5 years or so it was the only dubstep club. without it's protection the genre would never have had the space to incubate, evolve and emerge as it is now.

So now there's tons of dubstep nights in London, i think this is a good chance for FWD>> to step back and be different again.

Even when they improved the lineups this year, lately on a Friday night there was too much passing traffic, dis-interested punters, city boys, non music fans etc for it to feel like FWD>> did at it's best. Plus all the headz, that stood in that room for 5 years looking at a half empty dancefloor but made the genre what it's become, mostly have bookings on a friday now. A sunday switch should re-turn the emphasis to the music and the community, not just getting twatted somewhere open late.

i am very excited about this, haven't been able to go to FWD since early january as i work saturdays, and as it doesn't even start till 11-ish most weeks it seems a bit pointless going to have to leave again in an hour or, so selfish as it may sound i'm happy its changed day cos i can start to go again, presuming its an earlier start and finish

With this last point in mind, do you think there will be a significant change in music policy with fwd as well, in line with the "always moving fwd" ethos? I've noticed the funky DJs (thought Fever was real good a couple of weeks back), but fwd is not really going to become a stage for that scene surely with the dark, moody pp setting not really suiting the vibe and the clash with dances like House of Joy. However, think it would be really good to see fwd take further account of the evolution of dubstep and the different directions its taking in the lineups

i play radio 10 til midnite on a Sunday :(
30 miles from London :(

im gonna need to pass that driving test soon and zip down to London after radio..

maybe itll stop less mess heads on a sunday nite aswell, people are less likely to get caned and dribble on you on a sunday than a friday
maybe not, ive been known to get obliterated moreso on a sunday than a friday or saturday

as long as the music remains good, the lineups good, and the vibe good, it could be on a wednesday morning,...

ill be interested to see how it goes
