I think you can get 'em from one of the record label's myspaces, but I forget which one...

I would ask here - www.nationofskweee.com

Awww... someone may be coming out here for a little show, cant say who yet cause its not set. Ive also been working on getting a bunch of them over here, but airfare is rediculous for getting 5 guys from Finland/Sweden over here.... if you know anyone in NYC who wants to get them out, are a few heads interested on this coast and up in Canada...

of course it'd be great to get the flogsta/harmo guys over here but i really favor building local scenes and local talent. free/cheap shows are a great thing, especially early in scene development. if the promoter has to take a bath to put on a show that is not going to last.

I fully agree... but right now they are Skweee. It is for the most part a localized phenomenon that is just now starting to break, and I personally wouldnt feel right taking their scene and trying to reproduce it. I would love to experience a proper Skweee show though, and I think that having them over here would go over really well, once they get more exposure.

I plan on having some multi-genre shows in the near future, and I will probably play some skweee, but the purpose of the shows I want to throw is going to build our own scene, not to apropriate someone elses. I want to book djs and acts that are doing their own thing and pushing the envelope in hopes of creating an environment proactive to creating a new scene, style and maybe even genre. LA is lacking a style to call their own... we seem to like to take from others (electro/blog house, jungle/dnb, dubstep) more than create now. But I digress...

Obviously, it would be really expensive to bring them out, but if split up over a 5 or 6 city tour and the shows were planned with local headliners who draw and are similar (like Glitch Mob in LA or maybe the T&B crew in NYC) it'd be a pretty safe and doable show... hell, at the right spot, you could possibly even do it for free if you can keep the bar, at the most $5-$10 at the door isnt too bad for a night of Skweee. My main problem with trying to do it right now is not enough people know about them yet, so even with a pair of killer local acts it might not be enough. I was trying to get them more exposure in the states, submitting info to a few magazines and other media I could think of, but the intrest just isnt there yet.

Maybe after Sonar and a MAH show (fingers crossed), that will all change though... dubstep started gettin booked in LA just a few months after the first Dubstep Wars show she did, and that was all the UK heads at first.

If you do get a night going out there and want the US's first Skweee-J to come play, hit me up...

Count me in too! although it would be damn hard to put on skweee dj's without the set lists sounding pretty similar! i'm only one record away from owning the entire scenes output! :)

IMO, as long as it gets played, its all good. I love vinyl trust, but without getting into a debate about vinyl v mp3 or whatever, music is music is music, unless its Skweee. Then its really good music. And needs to be played, however possible.

But yeah, the vinyl collector inside me agrees. I would be dope if it all could come out on wax.

At the same time, one of my favorite things about Skweee is that in its purest form, its meant to be performed live and improved like a good jam band. Its something that Ive wanted to see in electronic music for a long time, and this is probably the best style to base it on.

Have you checked out the Skweee vids on youtube? So dope. Those cats can really all play!

Its a grip of vids actually...

I have yet to see any of them in person, but I reallly want to... Im even seriously considering saving for a trip to Scandinavia if they have a really big show sometime. Plus, my family lineage is Scandinavian/English, so I want to go see the 'homeland'. Sonar woulda been a good trip had I heard of it sooner, but I cant get the fundage together by then...
