stop smoking before producing or just smoke a little.
i used to smoke a LOT and since i stopped my skills have improved immensely. i read an interview with Aphex Twin (not dubstep, i know, but read further anyways) where they asked him about his drug usage. he basically said that he is sober when constructing the main parts of his songs but will smoke a little bit when putting finishing touches on things. i guess my point is that being stoned is cool for fucking around but when it comes to the main structure of things, you have to be objectionable and have goals and be sober enough to execute them!
this varies from person to person. i must add that i am curious to see what i will produce when i smoke again in august or so. i might end up quitting all together. or i might make future classics and trillions of dollars.
definitely trillions

I think I'll get a picture of Aphex in my studio, preferably with a disaproving expression and the slogan "What would Richard do?" or possibly "Get to work you tnuc".somejerk wrote:fuagofire wrote:i think weed is mine - i get good ideas but then i cant use my computer cos it turns me into a spastic

Used to be weed, but now it's having a three week old kid
About mice... I use a wacom Tablet and pen now, much nicer.
Oh and... if you smoke while you're writing a tune, don't smoke when you're mixing it. or vice versa i.e don't write and mix stoned.
worked for me lol

On the subject of weed and music, there was a mildly amusing thread over at International Cannagraphic a while back... here was my post:
"Interestingly enough in a book I just read about the evolution & history of Dub in Jamaica, most - but not all - of the heavyweight producers didn't allow ganja to be used in the studio proper.
Which isn't to say that a session player couldn't fire one up outside or en route, but... the image I'd always had was of Dub studios being a sea of blue smoke. Apparently that wasn't the norm (with the exception of Lee Perry & a couple others).
Personally, I know the weed can definitely assist in listening to/appreciating music - but not always in making it. Depends on the people, the setting, the chemistry of the musicians, and a million other variables that are tough to pin down. Shitty/unoriginal musicians play worse stoned more often than not, IMHO."

Wire up yer dong and make it a MIDI controller... get the best of both worlds! Of course, then all you'd be doing is making House beats pretty much - and the BPM will likely get a lot faster at the end. Difficult to mix with, that.
Of course if the idea of inserting electric sharp shit in the jewels makes ye queasy, you could try the already-existing MIDI glove.

Just kidding, obviously. Please - if anybody wants to try the glove and videotape it for us, please be a chick...

lol, ya, its usually all good with me till I get tired. Maybe its just smoking way to much on a regular basis but I dont really find weed hash much effect on me atm. Im generally the same stoned as I am sober, maybe a little more focused. But its too easy to just sit there rolling up j after j, not eating, and eventually u end up so hungry and tired u cant continue, but the tune is calling for u and wont let u gotempest wrote:being too stoned and pissed at the sequencer, head spinning out, then eventually saying 'no... can't.... do.. it' and rolling to bed
