hello, I am new
I'm new, just wanted to say hi. I've been a techno head for some years. Been mixing the minimal stuff for a few years now. Got turned on to dubstep a while back and liked it but for some reason it never grabbed me.
Recently however it [dubstep] has hit me like a ton of bricks and I am in love and infatuated. It's like a brave new world to me. It makes me dizzy.
I'm from Baltimore on the east coast of the united states. I do graphics for a living and fuck around with music as a hobby. Been djing for about 7 years. Currently run 2 1200's, a pioneer 500 and serato. Also been using ableton since version 1. Currently running version 5 with an assortment of midi controllers and a new guitar which I do not yet know how to play.
When modern music in baltimore stopped stocking techno records and baltimore clubs stopped booking techno dj's I stopped leaving my basement.
Im a former member of Baltimore's colorful heroin sub culture, a veteran of the war on drugs, an ex-junky that's been out of the game for 8 years.
My interests are art, music, sound, politics, people and social issues, my wife and my animals. I'm sometimes anti-social, left leaning and always suspicious of power.
That's me. Thought I should say hello. So glad this wonderful music began speaking to me, looking forward to hanging around here, learning listening and sharing.
best,
smutek

awwww.smutek wrote:yeah, I was talking about the ableton forums when I said the "other" forum. Been hanging there since 2003. Change of pace will be nice. As far as other dubstep forums go, shiva is at this one so as far as I'm concerned there's no need to look any further.

I used to like ham but then I stopped eating red meat and chicken a little while back because my wife was afraid that my arteries were slowly turning into cheese steak grease and that I was going to drop dead of a heart attack.
Her being 9 years my junior it eventually began dawn on me that her fears were perhaps not entirely unrealistic and one day while waiting in line at the grocery store deli to buy some ham (seriously) I realized she wasn't being morbid, just real. I did eat cheese steak and fries with gravy nearly every night. I do sit in front of a computer all day ery day. I just might be a heart attack waiting to happen.
Since I dont want to drop dead any time soon and also did not feel like waiting in line for lunch meat I just said fuck it and have not consumed any land living meat since. This was about 3 months ago.
Though I no longer consume it Ham still occupies a sunny place in my memories.
So, yes, I do like ham.
