Burial didn't invent 2step, i would say it sounded more like rusko doing the early style of dubstep
And yeah, i think only just starting to get a bit generic after 6 years is a major achievement. Plus all that is happening is a certain kind of tune (not even specific producers) is becoming the "mainstream" within dubstep, and there is still a vibrant undercurrent full of experimentation, which the exact same producers might also work within.
Yeah, seriously, anyone who thinks it's getting generic really can't be trying hard to check stuff out...gravious wrote:Listen to:

TOX you gotta dig a little deeper bro - all above are names that are really pushing the boundaries of this wonderful music, refreshing and exiting sounds. To me the whole bristol camp especially, (pinch, peverlist, appleblim, komonasmuk, gatekeeper, headhunter, RDS, etc) is my take on 'dubstep' to me they make 'dubstep'. Thier interpratation is my interpretation.
You cant really listen to only one station (based in london - so majority of artist will be london based playing the 'london' sound, bar a few guest mixes) -- its only same-y coz your doing the same things! listening to the same artists/station and yet expecting new things - dubstep isnt getting formulated your ways of listening is - dig deeper - its seriously just as, if not even more exiting and fresh as its always been, trust

Is it me ... blah blah blah?
Yeah - it's you
Yeah - it's you

I really liked 'Dubstep' around 2005, when some Oris Jay was getting thrown on the decks. It was a combination of Dubstep, Breakstep, and Breakbeat Garage.
Tunes that really did it for me was 'Markone's' "Fight", Benga and Skream "Judgement", El-b "Amazon", Benga beats vol-1, Skreamz "Kongo", Shimano - "Blues" and any Plasticman production from that era.
But to tell the truth Markone's "Fight", is one of heviest tunes I heard out of Dubstep. I really enjoyed the old era of 'Dubstep', it had alot more energy, and was a lot more danceable.
Dubstep now is fine, but not really for me, I like to keep my eye on it, and i'm waiting for changes in the right direction for me, to jump back on it proper.
Keep doing what your doing 'Dub-steppers', the music will guide you.............................

just reminds me of garage to be honest... not the end of the world but seems to mix a huge amount of the dub element and yes rusko has changed soooo much..... Action dread and cockney violen remix pinnacle defo. jahova is good the more aggressive bassline sells records and plays out well when ur pissed but mala has it locked for delivering bass to ur sternum.Slim wrote:Abs wrote:sounds like exactly Burial

More on topic dubstep as u say is so varied and it will only get more varied as more ppl produce the "sound" pick and choose what u enjoy and don't brand stuff u don't like as generic and boring its just stuff u don't like.
though when i can't identify any actual DUB influence at a whole dance or in a set then that is long.

Ye bro just keep looking around, Get mixes, look around this site, always new stuff. Go into your local record store and ask what new stuff they've got in, get a listen, i've found new tunes and artists this way. Due to many influences Dubstep has expended into many different styles in such a short period of time and continues to. Try some stuff by Burial, Clouds, iTAL tek!, Darqwan. Peace.
