Any ideas on how to create this sound (sample included)

Post by sharky » Tue Jun 20, 2006 1:00 am

Lately i've been playing more with higher frequecies in my music -I guess I've neglected it cause of so much attention on the base ;) I've been trying a lot of things with cutting out the bottom end of squelchy distorted bass.

Any ideas on how to go about creating this: http://mark.aroika.com/Out_There_Somewhere_sample.mp3 (450kb). Never mind the song, I'm just trying to get that high end scream. It seems more of a layered sound -you can hear a square bass underneath it. I've tried heavy ring modulation, bizare LFO treatment etc.

maybe ultrafast appregiator..like the one that comes with live it can be set all the way down to 10msec which is shit fast (faster than the example)..and then just ad the bass..cuz that is definetly a layered sound and a mighty cool idea too

I'd try modulating a rich synth noise with a fast LFO.

Try Phase, Amplitude and Filter Cutoff modulation... you might need more than one.

Try Invader from here - really good for 8-bit arcade style noises.
