YALL WANT GRIMEY...CAN'T GET ANY GRIMIER THAN THIS...DA MOVIE'S ABOUT DA BIRTH OF A BRAZILIAN HOOD IN MANY WAYS FROM DA 60'S THRU DA 70'S...I REALLY DUG DA CAMERA WORK...AND DA BARE VIOLENCE...I WAS STUDYING PHOTOGRAPHY, AND THIS FLICK TAKES ME BACK WHEN I USED TO TAKE PICTURES OF HOOKERS AND RUNAWAYZ....JUST SEE IT FOOLZ...

superb camarawork (colour use and so on) and a damn good story to! based on a true story as you can see in the credits at the end where you can see some real shots of those days....

one of the best movies i have ever seen!

didnt think i could watch a whole movie with subtitles..how wrong. one of the best films i've seen.

in NL we're used to it, only disney film got a voice over....
i think subtitles are fair to the makers of a movie...

I picked up the book the movie was based on by Paulo Lins and it's totally nuts..only a 100 or so pages in and the deathcount is easly 20+!! Shootings, stabbings,decapitation, police homicide, a baby being de-limbed and presented to the mother in a box..

there's a film out called Tsotsi which has been labelled the 'south african city of god', wanted to go see it but nowhere was showing it around here. i think its out on dvd by now
