For vinyl

No Hats No Hoods is just starting up and had some good releases.

Adamantium (although mainly instrumental)

otherwise it's whites generally.

most of the good stuff just doesnt get released.
a lot of people go the route of mixtapes rather than vinyl releases.
there just isnt much that gets released on vinyl.
you just need to know the right people to get the tunes.

Outside of Adamantium and No Hats No Hoods, nobody's releasing any grime on vinyl these days. Everyone's too busy making mixtapes so they can "blow", and instrumentals are restricted to about a dozen or so DJs from London.

This will most likely change once the police stops clamping down on grime events, but if the amount of hype on the streets is anything like MCs say it is, I don't see that happening for quite a while.

Yeah, ive ordered all the NHNH albums from Juno, thats really the only stuff i could find

I really like this music though and i thought it was a little bit more mainstream than it is, it has been around longer than dubstep, but i guess dubstep is just bigger

It's excactly this what I hate when it comes to Grime these days.. I love the music and played it since it first came around in the old Garage days but the way things are going at the moment i don't see it going anywere.. on a international level that is..

Here's the thing: I'm not from the UK so maybe I can't judge properly but a couple of years ago there was bare independant little labels and producers were putting the work in to get their tunes pressed on whitelabels and stuff like that.. Nowadays... almost notting, apart from dubplate.net (who still needs to learn about paypal ) there's not even a download site that comes with proper new stuff on mp3. I'm just wondering if this is because producers don't see the use of releasing single tunes anymore or because the labels/distributors/downloadsites etc lost interest in Grime....???

i think it's about just wanting to keep it a London thing. just wanna have a small group of DJs playin the tunes. kinda like a form of quality control.
i dont think it would be a good thing if the sound were to "go international". I mean, look at what that did to dubstep.
i think music and culture go hand and hand. so when you have someone from different culture produce something, it's going to be different.

that can be a great thing though

Trance came from Goa trance and whether or not you like it, it has a big following.

Chicago House and Detroit Techno. Where would any electronic music be without these styles.

Great things can happen when other cultures take the music of one culture and combine it with their own.

I dont think Grime could work with American rappers though. They lack skill and cant flow or rhyme fast enough for grime. There would be 2 or 3 MC's with the skill, and i dont think you could call it grime without a British accent

I don't think so either.

As for grime releases, I haven't seen much being put out on vinyl these days. I don't think there is enough money in it for the release of vinyl. As far as I know, alot of it is on mp3.. and over MSN.

I am gonna start searching for grime mp3s in the next few months, I have to get back into mixing again.
