See.....there's a fine line with that tho which seems to be forgotten.

Everyone can say "You're too sensitive," but if you're being deliberately hurtful to someone else for a laugh, and when they get hurt, turn and instead of apologizing, tell them they're being too sensitive; that shows more a need for unnecessary cruelty.

So that all of a sudden, we've made champions of people who display rude behavior....and in the same breath, told people who are offended, that they are too sensitive and weak.

I think it takes real strength to defend people who are being picked on. It takes more strength to be kind and fair. It takes more insight to see past the initial satisfaction of being an impolite rockstar to the longterm effects of bringing such a negative vibe to a place thats already flawed, because we don't have the benefit of hearing and seeing the faces that come with the words.

There is no need for this kind of puffing up. Its just mean. And why would you want to be a mean person when you could be nice to each other? You don't have to like everyone here. There are a few people I don't really like. But being tolerant is more a social benefit. You can't hear anyone when all people are doing is hurling barbs at each other. And no one wants to be somewhere that is rife with anger and animosity.

So just for the sake of the community I'm assuming we all love since we're all here, just please lets be more tolerant and leave all the sniping for those who know and love us, i.e. our RL friends and whatnot.

No one should be defending the right to be an ass to anyone else with no real reason. Thats why half the world is up shits creek right now.

I am a "nice" person...but I can be "cruel" sometimes because I will tell you my honest opinion....'yes that does make you look fat'...'you should not be a singer cuz you dont have a voice for singing'....'dont leave ur house looking like that'...'youre being an asshole'...etc

if you are (or I am) too sensitive to take that statement into consideration then dont ask. or...take it with a grain of salt...grow some balls...and do what you want.

I think this is always going to be an issue when people use sarcasm and pisstaking as a form of humour, which is so rife on the internet and in life in general... it boils down to being a very negative form of amusement born out of judgement of another person with not much foundation of knowledge of the person in question.

The odd ribbing or cheekiness is one thing, but everyone needs to be careful that it doesn't cross the line into boosting one's own esteem at another's expense. When it does that, it becomes patronising and self gratifying, which isn't an attractive trait in any human being.

I'm not saying that's what happened here, it just is something i've noticed a few times and this has reminded me of it.
