Fruity Loops 4 wobble bass help

Post by delements » Sat May 24, 2008 4:01 pm

been using fruity loops 4 for a while now and have been into dubstep for a couple of years, making it is ok in terms of drum patterns, melodies etc but I just can't create any sort of wobble in my bass and have given up on wobble bass recently, so if anyone is good with fruity loops or FL4 specifically can I have any tips as to how I can make some wobble bass and sub bass ?

Thanks, im new to the forum by the way.

Next to the LFO2 button dial is the sub button, click that and wait 5 seconds, then press it again, it should flas and voila, you have sub bass.

Most synths can make a sub bass type sound with a few very coarse sine waves played in the lower octaves... Try C3 to middle C4.

But yeah, like the other cats above wanted to say.. This sub-forum has mad info all over the place. Just about ANY question regarding production has been asked, answered and discussed in varying degrees of detail probably more than once.

By the way, you DO know it's 2008 and there are more recent versions of FL Studio out there, right??

Good luck.

Yes, there are places, but they are illegal places of which we do not speak of.

If you BUY FL, you get life time upgrades, its not what you use, its how you use it anyways! if you're comfortable with FL4, use it mate! Good luck with your productions.

Only joking fella. Im sure not everyone here buys their software, just see it as a trial , a long term one. Maybe check eBay, sometimes people sell software on from there. But stick with Fruity 4 if it works for ya.

Hi delements,

Have you got the 3xOsc synthesiser in Fruity Loops 4?
In your channels which you can add from the menu dropdown have a look and see if it's there.
I don't know if 3XOsc was in that version of FL or not, but if it is you can use that.

If you have got it in FL4 then I think you can get a passable sub bass out of that if you have no other VSTs.

Turn the volume down on 2 of the oscillators, and just use oscillator one to use a sinewave shape get a tone sound out of it. Then in your piano roll for that channel use the same notes you are using for your mid bass, but put them an octave or two lower than your mid bass.

That's just a starting point to get you going. See what you can get out of that for now.
You should be able to get something you can work with for now. You can always replace the bass later on once you have some VSTs that you prefer later on.

When you create your bass think of it as being in several layers that all come together to make the final bass sound.
You can use 2, 3, or more layers. Your sub bass should really be pure tone, your other layers you can add wobble onto or other effects to distort them and change their sound.
Blend the layers the right way and you should be able to get sounds which you like.

Hope that's some help. There's people here who can give you better advice than me though.

:)

You've already got it.

I agree with 'Legendary', just use what you've got for now. You can do a lot with it and don't need the most expensive software to make the best music.
What you've already got right now is sufficient to make good music.
I'd advise you more to concentrate on learning the methods of creating music, and maybe learn about some of the basics of music theory to see how other people construct music, as opposed to thinking you need to buy some special software to make good music.
