Yeah I find the same thing a problem for me... Not sure about the tweaking the velocity... Must hunt out the manual for that..

I remember buying one of these, had to wait like three months for it to be released. Got it used it twice then it lived in its box for a year before i sold it. I personally found it a proper piss poor piece of kit. The mapping just didnt work at all even with the updates.

Might be better now, but my experience was

Man thats harsh! I found the automap heaps simple to get it rigged up.. almost plug and play !

keys feel excellent, pads are usable but i'd like to tweak with the velocity...

what you using it with?

I was using it with Logic and a bunch of AU plug-ins. even when using some NI plugin's in standalone mode the thing never worked.

by pressing "global" you can modify velocity parameters for drum pad...

I use it and drum pads work fine.

in the .pdf manual it tells you how to change the velocity so you don;t have to bang the hell out of the pads.

Automap is superb and there are presets for my favourite synths so flick to the preset and all the controls are at my fingers - beats a mouse any day of the week.

Oh and mixing with the faders is much more ideal than clicking and sliding

graet little keyboard, hours of fun with a soft synth.

pretty much nailed it in the above comments but i love it soo much i'm gonna say breifly to do it too:)

press global , use the up navigation button next to the lcd screen press five times get's u to the high velocity sensitivety page . On the LCD screen ther'll be a row of 8 numbers ,corrisponding to the 8 drum pads (the numbers will be in the row above the drum pads, making it clear which pad responds to which number). tap the drum pad to check the velocity (it'll show on the lcd) then use the rotary encoder below in that row to adjust the sensitivety.

press the up navigation button on the right of the lcd once more do the same again for the low velocity thresh hold. repeat the above proecedure.

explained not so breifly and a bit confusingly, so alternatively turn to page 60 and 61 of the pdf manual.

basically the settings you need are on the LCD page 6 and 7 of the global menu on the remote sl.

anyways...

everything you need is in his post you need to work out your own settings because everyone is different. Do you want him to write your tunes for you?

:D sorry for ur problems but this has made me feel good (read smug) coz I was going to buy an Sl but decided on Akai MPK49, everything about this feels good and drum pads can be set so all full velocity or all touch sensitive OR so the each one has a difrent seet velocity, ie if you have one sample set to all pads it will increase in velocity over the 12 pads. :D

cheers man, been tryin to figure that out for fuckin ages, couldn't find anything about in the manual. the drumpad was the only complaint i had about the SL, was hard to knock out a decent beat when you had to slam your fist into the pads just to get a sound. much much easier now.

subindex i just set the min velocity to 0 and the max to 127. The prob was that the default min velocity was 20, so if you hit it for less than 20 then it wouldn't register, so setting it real low is the important bit.
