searches bring up this (below) which doesn't solve the issue for one person but did for another...seems it's a OS issue...atleast you'll know the problem is not isolated to you though ;-)

Yeah, I would say the problem probably lies within Vista.. That one amongst many I am sure.

plug it in >>go to device manager, if its there right click on it and choose "uninstall" then click on scan for hardware changes, does it work now?

you can also try plugging it in before starting your app, see if it sees it then, or try it in a different app, if you havent got another app download a couple of demos, do they see the device?

safe as for the concern people, very much appreciate your good intentions and helpful nature but it turns out the problem was the orrible tnuc who sold it to me... he fully knew it wouldnt work on vista but sold it to me anyway, but dont worry, karma will get him. ive bought a new one now and it works fine. eZ!

If I understood well, it must be some kind of USB device. Give a try to a generic "USB speakers" driver or behringer drivers. Sometimes they work!

I had a similiar problem, I too have a Carillon (25 key) and at first my comp didnt recognise it in the slightest..

I got this program called MIDI OX.... it checks the connectivity and whether the device works. Google it, then download it free.
