ideally it should be vinyl and a lossless format like flac. Least with flac files you can rip em to .wav and play em on a cd deck at proper cd quality.

what i think it shows, which seemed pretty obvious anyway, is that some people like to dj with vinyl but that non-djs (and people with less money) also want to hear the tracks and don't think that "just buy a fuckin turntable" is a decent answer.

if the question had been vinyl and/or .wav/.mp3 i think you might see a few more votes for #3.

I dont see any reason why both shouldnt be available, allthough I accidentally voted for the first one because I didnt see the last two options. mp3 releases may increase piracy but I have a theory that the amount of piracy is probably propotionate to the amount of artists/size/popularity of the scene so maybe it wouldnt become a significant problem I dont know.

always been a fan of vinyl serious but i got one of these on loan at the momment to record som mixes and its the muts nuts!

really versatile-deff rivals the vinyl but not quite enuff to beat-

80 gigs mobile ya get me-its a bit heavvy to cart around but as a storage and active cd deck its amazing 5/5

vinyl, but with decent CD albums /anthologies for the wider audience.

mp3 downloads are a good earner but a bit of a distraction IMO

I have to go for vinyl and digital... and like batfink said, it should be flac onto CD for DJing not mp3.

Problem with vinyl is that its gonna wear out tho, I have a copy of Ed Rush and Optical's Gas Mask/Bacteria that has been heavily played over the years... damn does it sound muffled now. I think thats why we needc digital, just so the tunes are still crisp in 10 years time.

i spend most of my vinyl budget for techno, so busting my wallet for imported dubstep vinyl just is not in the cards for me.

i also prefer djing dubstep with ableton because it afford me much more flexibility in the mixing of it, since, quite frankly, not all dubstep cuts are super dj friendly (not dissing that, i don't think it's a bad thing). ableton allows me to loop beats and really make some lengthier, more in-depth mixes, cuz that's the way i like to mix and that's the kind of mixing i like to hear.

i think flexibility and accessibility is the key here. vinyl is of course the format of choice for many djs, but for those that delve into digital aspects, OR the average punter who just wants to rock the CDs or iPod, we are going to reach a wider audience if there are more formats in the mix...

i have more broken cds than vinyl...cds have a life span of 10 or 20 years even if kept mint...vinyl will last for a life time.

I gotta say on both vinyl and mp3 that way if I'm short of cash I can still rinse the tune without having to fork out an extra few quid. Gotta love the rawness of vinyl though.

vinyl is lush but not always practical.

lossless has to become standard. We all download huge great big mp3 mixes which weigh in at anything up to 160-190 megabytes all the time, so large downloads obviously aren't a problem.

Bleep.com already has a select few things on Flac lossless so is it possible to do the same for the roster of dubstep tunes? It would really open up the sound to dj's everywhere and make SURE that the sound quality was good enough for even the most demanding sound systems/ears.

Vinyl...obviously coz of the ease of use to mix.

mp3 for dubs....only on cdj1000s or the good denons.
mixing on 100s is painful
