Sound quality on Dubstep Allstars 6?

Post by citizen » Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:01 pm

Is it just me, or is there some serious white noise and crackle throughout this mix? This is more noticable at some points than others - for example the usually pristine sound of 2562s Morvern, especially in the breakdown.

Maybe Tempa and Blim are on some "warmth of vinyl" tip, but this would seem silly being that it is released in a digital format.

I don't recall the previous editions of the series having this characteristic.

Any thoughts?

Weird.

You simply can't miss it at 1:55 during Morvern. Just sounds like really old vinyl.

I'm listening on a decent set of Sennheisers - yet to play it loud. But listening to the same tune on Aerial throught hte same headphones and it sounds immaculate.

Anyone else?

its def there but just sounds like crackly dubplate as masstronaut said.

It doesn't matter if its a cd the release its still a recording so there will invariably be crackles as more than likely the tunes were played from dub.

don't really bother me tbh

"f*ck dubstep. It's played almost exclusively by self indulgent wannabe losers"

To be honest i would have though they would re-press their dubs for a release like this, but i like the effect of crackle.

Yeh, maybe just the most wornout. I don't mind crackle or really hear it on this release. Can't speak for N-Types though.

tiesto makes bad records sound great, just because he plays them.

There's a difference between keeping it raw and using warnout plates.

I guess. I love the vinyl sounds but not when it overpowers the actual music...which is the whole part of this. Then again, I've never got into this dubplate business which I'm quite glad about, I'm poor enough as it is  *cough*Serato*cough*
