Dam that looks good what sort of specs are you running it with? I was looking at UAD-1 recentlly but i think this just murdered it. Do you think the native AU will run ok in logic 8(intel/UB)? it only mentions logic 6 and 7.

the plugs available for UAD will shit all over the URS'. But it'll cost ya.

I aint got no UAD tho (nor a compatible host), so URS Fulltec EQ and compressors are always useful. :)
is it?

NO.

Yeah the UAD-1 is good but as you said it's pretty expensive as you know you'll need atleast two cards to run a few plugins.
Docwra in what way are you using the CSP? Are you using it as channel strip settings on AUX channels, say seperate setting for kick, bass, snare etc or are you using it as a master bus channel strip?

URS plugs do look pretty don't they?

They sound good tho, I like the A10 and the 1980 comp is good at making any snare sound like 'thwack'

Input Stage Algorithms are prob the most interesting part, wish they'd make it as a standalone plug, wouldn't hit the cpu as hard & you could put one on each channel 8)

To add to that, the plug in also comes with a stripped down version with it aswell and really is not big on CPU

I never have any compresors or eq's etc on my master. Am a firm believer that you should be attempting to get the perfect mix so you should be focusing on your individual sounds and processes. Iv been using it on various things like my kicks, snares, drum master, sidechaining with it.

Yeah i thought that putting stuff on the master was a big no no. I've been using the PSP mix pack 2 recently and found the mixtreble(on hats) and saturator(on snare/kick) quite nice but i'm keen to upgrade the compressors and eqs from the ones in logic. Anyway i'm going to give the demo a shot this weekend.
Cheers for the reply.

Chewie, I just thought they were a funny combo of words, URS are good on drum busses tho. You on mac yh? If you are looking for quality, low cpu alternatives for AU - chk airwindows plugins;

http://www.airwindows.com/index.html

No GUIs, just good sounding and unique plugs, and Chris the guy that makes em is a champ, if you buy a plug-in and it gets upgraded to a new version, he'll send you the new version free 8) all his dynamics plugs have wet/dry for parallel compression. He's a wierd guy and some of the concepts are very, as I say, 'unique' check out the free 'channel' plug.

Yh Docwra, I use a ooollllld computer so low cpu use for me is prob mad differant  I dont have the cpu overhead to waste on GUIs   I'd just love to be able to use those modelling algos & bank them up for saturation type things. Prob not what URS intend em for.

I'm not bothered tho, once I upgrade my ULN2 I will have that anyway with a 80bit summing buss 8)

You sure you know what any of that is you only learnt what compression actually does to the input about 3 days ago...

Waves API plugins (part of the Mercury bundle) are similar but better sounding than the URS ones

Was just posting up some info from the URS website about the plug in and yes i will openly admit i havnt a clue like a lot of people how compression works but just go by what my ears are telling me but slowly learning more and getting there.

$599 or €384, fuck that I'd go for a Focusrite total mix or two hardware compressors like an Alesis 3630 and FMR Really Nice Compressor for that cash.
