Pretty new to Reason and Dubstep.

Post by ezpz1993 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 9:05 am

Right, I have been messing around with reason for around 3-4months and basically got the gist of some things, obviously not everything that would be an overstatement, a huge over statement.

I basically want to be making some ill dubstep tunes via reason but really dont know what i need to do to overcome this (eg, rewired software etc) or could it be just done through Reason 100%

I have made a little demo before yet it doesnt have that umph that most professional producted dubstep tunes have and i can't get my mind to figure out what it is.

TYVM in advance to any help

EDIT: I am using Reason 4.0

you can do it all in reason. I prefer to use cuebase myself but Reason is a great self contained programme. What version are you using? also can't really give any help on how to improve to tunes unless you post some examples, get some up and I will try to give what limited help I can.

Had a quick listen

what I would say is that your parts need separating and placing more into individual space's (especially the bass), using filters and EQ's....this can be time consuming in reason as you only get a two band eq (from what I remember), try routing your signal through a couple of the eq's first. Also try making more different bass sounds and alternate between them to make the bass pattern.

that is what I would do if I was you but trust me when I say I am still only beginning on dubstep myself, you have already accomplished more than me as I havn't even got a demo.

also I love that rising bass sound at 1.42, seems to stand out much clearer.
