knew a producer/engineer who loved to use these to give artists for recording sessions, especially drummers. they do a great job at preventing background noise from coming in..

like decklyn said though i would think for DJing comfort and durability are very important factors.. all depends on the shape of your gourd

yea i've used nothing but mdrv700s since i started. Cheaper than others and a good all round choice. I find they are a bit vicelike after 3 hours, but they have excellent insulation in their design which makes them real good in the club (better than HD-25s IMO for this, but guess that depends on the size of your head and the state of your ears).

About them always breaking in the same place. Yes this is true, but only for MK1 ones. The ones that are newly produced do not have the same problem.

After a good 3 years of use, I think mine are slowly dying on me (been cained to death and used as speakers at times :S) so will probably invest in some HD-25s when the time comes, as they have such good sound quality.

I've got a pair of mdrv700dj's as well, the cheap plastic cylinders that are part of the hing broke on me a couple years ago, I tried getting replacements from Sony, they cost about $40 each, they said there were no known issues with the hinge mechanism which anyone who's owned a pair knows is bull$hit.
I made my own replacement cylinders out of aluminum, now they're tough as nails. Still sound pretty damn good, although I find they tend to bump up the low end a little too much, but that's better than not having enough low end .

they're pretty good but i remember one night when i stumbled over this very long cable while a mate was djing... after that djing wasn't the same anymore as i've managed to pull out the contacts on the left earphone. no possibility to repair by yourself...

then i switched to hd-25's as i thought the ability to replace parts is highly essential

what advantage do u guys see in better DJ headphones? i've used my mates expensive ones but they don't seem to help out in any way..

there's no need for expensive headphones really, they just look cooler.
you see qbert using shitty little walkman in-ear headphones, and he's (debatably) the best dj in the world.

think the ones q-bert uses [don't know, but i saw noize from denmark use the same type . . .] is some custom molded ones . . . top of the line stuff . . .

I need to buy some new headphones for DJing, want something pretty cheap but also durable and dont sound like shit. I got some £20 Sennheiser HD205 when I started Djing and they've lasted me all this time but now one of the headphones is starting to cut in and out

I have used mainly Sony v600 over the years. Have had a few other pairs but these lasted the longest. They are looking beat tho would like to get something different. The V6 was my first pair back in the day, they have stood the test of time as well. The 25s yall are talking about seem a little over priced to me. I am not going to spend more than 100 for dj cans.
