Post by ezpz1993 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 2:29 pm

I have read up on how to import vocal samples into Reason yet i can't get my head around all technical talk, Im not 100% sure on all the technical names and what not within Reason yet would like to be able to simply import snippets of speech out of films easily and effectivly

Chop the vocal in recycle, then export in NNXT or in Dr.Rex. Although ur limited with what u can do with wavs so do all ur jiggling about before hand. I tend to use Melodyne then import into recycle and cut it up into small sections then import into NNXT.

using an nnxt to trigger the samples will give you finer control over the start and ends of the sample. theoretically you could map each section or snippet of the vocal to differnet keys and be able to effect them all together the same, verb etc.. probably how id do it or nn-19 if it was just one piece i wanted to use.

if your using reason go get recycle 100% go get recycle. dr. rex and rex'd slices used in nnxt/nn-19 are an invaluble resource for reason imo. practice slicing breaks to learn recycle. im sure theres a yout ube video somewhere to help to.

you do not have to use recycle to sample the voice though.

you can open any vox you get in any audio editor chop it up and save the little individual bits you want to use then open them with any sampler in reason and trigger them when and where you want.

or if you dont have an editor (get one, i use audition, but audacity is a free you may want to look into that) you could open the long file in an nnxt and play with the start/end functions untill your triggering just the part you want but this is gonna leave pretty big untruncated files in your progect, i think prechopping is better.

there are soooooo many places to find samples i dont even know where to start on that.
