Best place to find Bass tones?

Post by keith p » Tue Jul 04, 2006 9:10 pm

Really seem to be having trouble finding weighty bass tones in my sample bank. Anyone recommend any cd's, sites etc.?

why not get a decent synth and DIY? I'm sure there's good bass samples out there, but I've never even started looking for them cuz synths are so much more fun to play with...

Initialise your synth and see what the sine is like...then use that as your starting point...

If you're just after straight tones use SoundForge or Cooledit to generate tones at 50Hz or whatever... and use that as a starting point for processing and distorting and resampling.

Or, fire up a bass patch in a VST instrument, and hit various low notes until you find the one(s) that really resonates. Record a sample of that, and load that into a sampler for your bass line. That way you keep that resonatey sound as the bline goes up and down, rather than losing it if you go off the Magic notes.
