dude is pissed off that other guys in his town are getting bookings even though they play stuff that's stolen. he wants to know what he can do about that.

this has nothing to do with vinyl vs mp3s or p2p.

it's about HACKS getting booked. its about people who aren't willing to sacrifice even a few bucks to buy tunes. and it's about promoters not giving two shits about djs they've booked playing tunes they have no rights too.

i've seen it happen too and it's really annoying and insulting to the rest of the djs out there that work there asses off to buy tunes. to properly give artists what they deserve, not to rip them off for their own benefit. it shows a total lack of respect and dedication to do something like that. and i really can't see how someone could even argue against that or for those that do dj that way.

There is only one thing you can do really and thats to slate off that person and make everyone aware. But most people who book these people are probably really only in it for the money anyways.

i rename every single file that comes into my possession. and change the id3's all to fit into my system of organizing. if i was to download a illegal 320, it would look & sound exactly the same as if i bought it from digital-tunes.

should i worry about being called a theif when i rock my DMZ's that arent on Bleep with my serato? do i gotta bring the records to prove i ripped them myself?

one time i was sitting at a undisclosed venue drinking with a undisclosed famous D&B DJ, discussing the merits of serato, cause it was early in the serato stages and the DJ playin was on it... DJ dropped a tune and both me and undisclosed famous dude were like ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh naughty naughty, that shit isnt out yet, no WAY he got that legit. so i went home that night and found the tune had gone up for sale on D&B Arena the day before. i felt stupid. its the ass part of assume.


please read the original post again, and his subsequent replies. at no point was there any proof the djs were playin illegal stuff, the djs werent even dubstep djs, and dude didnt even talk to them about his concerns, OR the promoter, he simply came on here bitchin about serato.

Watching a laptop DJ do boring and thoughtless mixes is exactly the same as watching a vinyl DJ to exactly the same. The same as it to watch a inspiring, interesting mix by either party. What's the difference? getting 2 slabs of vinyl moving at the same speed and time? lame.

the guy who buys multiple copies of everything so that once the release is unavailable he can put one up on ebay for like 50$... and never plays out, or radio or nothin... just earns $ off small pressings & demand... (cause you KNOW this happens... ALOT)

or the kid that illegally downloads that same tune, plays it out at a bunch of gigs where he just gets drink tickets & gas money, and converts X amount of people in god knows where to the sound?
