I'm going to be careful about how I phrase what i am going to say so i don't come off condescending or pretentious.

F*ck Serato and f*ck any dj that uses it to bring stolen music to the club for a gig.

*the end*
so to illustrate your point, how much do you spend on vinyl? how much do spend on cover charges & drinks? how much do you spend traveling to spots & gigs?

have you ever had to take the subway @ 430 AM with CRATES of records??

have you ever been on the road playing gigs for weeks on end?

i have back pains my dude lol... and sink every penny that comes my way into this music thing.

and fuckin love my serato. :D
Fantastic. we are in the same boat.

screw serato ! i was being sarcastic. both ya'll turn off your computers and go run around the block a couple times.

use serato or vinyl i dont care. it doest matter. i dont care if you down load tunes illegally, just dont bring it to the club and expect to be taken seriously. thats the point ! *the end* vinyl or serato, format doesnt matter . f*k

if you want to call me names, SEND ME A PM.

I'd just like to say that the point i made earlier probably only works for me. Obviously theres a bunch of you out there that enjoy using serato, a good tool it seems if you buy a lot of digital tunes of the net and want to play them out, in my opinion invest in vinyl though, better medium and maybe worth more in the future. When using a laptop to play out I sometimes don't spend as much time mixing the tunes ive made as I allready know how they can mix together in a simple but nice sounding affective way, id rather spend more time on fx and adding new sounds during the mix. Its all about creativity. Out to Sio2 trying to combat the illegitimacy of DJ culture right now though. Surly its only like £2-7 more to get a wax copy of the tune you want to play out and for the price of serato stuff you could get plenty of records. Sorry if i don't recognise correct prices i only play my home made music out lol.

Fuck forum topics not getting off topic aswell, where would conversation be with out this?, digitally or face to face, hah. i hardly ever post on forums and think ill quit soon, expressing opinion is good but not that good on the internet, people have more time to analyse and replies become almost spin doctored. :(

i cant say something against serato or something like that cause we also do!
but thing is that we get our dubs from the producers them selfs or the labels that will release that tunes...
simply cause its cheaper then cutting a dubplate ;)
to be honest if i would cut every tune i love to play i would be a poor poor man and would work only for the music....but who pays my bread the roof over my head and everything you need to live?

so if you hear someone playing a tune he or her isnt aloud to play just give em a headbut imo!

cheers

You mean those things same size as a £2 coin that can hold more data than a bunch of CD's?

Only con is, you need the same music on two of them in order to dj with them ;)

what an interesting read... and a real sign of the times.

i reckon that the 'ego' of a DJ and their desire to be 'seen' playing the latest 'ish are some of the issues here. also the curse of DJs today having so much choice in what format they spin blah blah blah (yawn...)

times have changed. I remember when to get hold of unreleased stuff you'd go sit at Music House all day (do yer research kids...) and give the DJs gathered YOUR tunes first, then maybe, the odd D.A.T (now i'm showing my age...) might come your way for you to cut. the tunes had a much longer shelf life that way.

Saturation, media coverage, broadband, the means of production becoming available to all and most importantly, the DJ becoming a 'social status symbol' are the things that have lead us to where we are today.

i reckon as long as DJs think about the ravers/dancers FIRST its all good.

They dont give a monkeys how stush or upfront your tracks are, just as long as it sounds right coming out of the speaker in a dance and that you put them together in a clever way.

i'm lovin Skreams new bits at the mo... lol
