Hopefully hardhouse.
Its true though. If Mr X makes a dubstep tune that is fucking wank, full of shit beats and rubbish synths, and no body buys it, even if he promotes it like crazy, then he will realize he is making stuff that is rubbish.
Its the same with most things. I can't get loads of people to download my mixes and say they are good. In my eyes it means I'm not good enough (or the mix isn't good enough) and I need to practice harder and do something special.

a lot of you spend way too much energy bullshiting about garbage like this and not enough time raving about the quality/positive stuff coming out.

Yeah, I think that's a terrible tune. But I doubt I'll ever hear it played out at one of the nights I go to, so I'm not greatly bothered.
Anything that can turn a profit will get gobbled up by the mainstream. The media are so quick and so connected these days that anything that's "underground" will never stay underground for long.
Still, arguably, the really intelligent and original stuff, from ultra-talented producers like Kode 9: I don't think that's the kind of thing that the mainstream can grab hold of, because it's too developed and awkward to be watered down and repackaged for mass consumption.

if they had released a tune that showed some genuine interest and love for the style of music they were attempting and not just a tasteless crib of other peoples styles fitted into a 140 bpm template i wouldnt have had a problem with it
most importantly though, if they were actually into dubstep they could have released some music under a pseudonym so they might have a chance of gaining some respect on their own merit without any preconceptions.
shameless bandwagon jumping is never a good thing. negativity isnt either i know but this kind of thoughtless hijacking of the "in" thing can have a negative impact.
however i cant see how pendulum releasing a shit dubstep tune is going to have any impact on anything at all really in the long run.

i really hope they come here, specifically looking for the 'how to make a wobble?' threads and see the hatred this community has for them. would shock them to fuck after being bummed by all the vapid emo stnuc who say 'oh my god i love drum and bass, have you heard of penjewlum?' for the past year or so.
chase and status are a very good example of dnb producers making an effort in this scene, i hear they are bring out a complete dubstep lp sometime in the near future?

i don't know how late I am to this subject, but I remember about four months ago, smoking with one of the top 3 dubstep djs in the world, and him telling me how the dudes from Pendulum asked him to do a remix for them.
Anyways, I remember that pendulum was the first drum and bass I'd heard ( I knew nothing about the internets, and forums ). Nothing against them at all. I don't dig their shit anymore, however, you guys are too fucking hateful. Sure you don't like the music, but its a crime to be attacking people who do. OPINIONS ARE LIKE ASSHOLES PEOPLE, EVERYONE HASSSS ONE~!
(well, some use other peoples opinions as their own.)
