Eastern sounds

Post by Tombones » Sat Jul 01, 2006 12:57 pm

A lot of dubstep has been using eastern sounds and samples. Listening to Distance I was wondering if he's influenced by Muslimgauze. I think a lot of people into dubstep would like Muslimgauze. Anyone else out there appreciate his sound?

Yeah i knew Bryn, Muslimgauze quiet well. We managed to get him to do the first live shows in England for us through the mid 90's in Leeds and played for us on many occasions. His productions started to become more dubwise after we started to take him to dub sessions to check out Iration Steppas and Rootsman. There are many tracks surely can fit in the dubstep genre but the production in more stripped down. He wasn't one to listen to other artists music much..he just did what he did.
One man ahead of his time.

RIP

I've got a mix of Muslimgauze stuff by Jack the tab. I got it from here www.noise.dj/?/2005/03/25 but that was a while ago and the link doesn't seem to be working anymore. I can maybe upload it for you if you want. But its not the best mix if you want to hear some of his more dubwise stuff. Bearing in mind Muslimgauze was a prolific producer I'm tempted to pick out some of the tunes that I think heads into dubstep are likely to appreciate and upload them.

Lucky you, I never found one.

With some luck you can listen to some tracks on pandora.com.

Not a solution at all, but pandora is always fun.

Muslimgauze are highly influential on so many levels. Unlike anything else really, so prolific and esoteric. Glad to see the name here. Beyond The Blue Mosque is a great starting point.
