Post DMZ July 8th Pictures/Video/Comments
i'd rather like to hear some of this new-fangled 'grime' the kids have been talking about... anyone else hear of this shit? imagine if they played some of it at fwd sometime, how amazing would that be?! they have done
and to be honest i hope they do
Hehe late post, after FWD on friday, work all day sat, DMZ carnage and then work and going out again on Sunday, been asleep most of yesterday. Wicked wicked night at DMZ... can't say much without repeating heads but yeah... security - sweet, much less presence than at other nights i've been to at Mass. Crowd was safe as, didn't get chat too much to anyone was far too busy dancin... Sound- nice thumping crispness no more ringing in the ears than usual... wasn't sure if i'd last but was skankin with lights on crew at the end... 'Marijuana' got caned... and that wreck the discotech tune is bigbigbig roll on Sept.

Smoke machine was doin my head in tho... only got room for one lot of smoke in my lungs

'resort to that'?! 'water it down'?!Danolboy wrote:I hope they don't water down the night with other genre's too much. Fair play getting in skepta or some other heads for a live p.a. now and again but it'd be a shame to have to resort to that just to beef things up.
the word 'grime' is on the flyer ya know. it's in the same size font as 'dubstep'. i think it might be appropriate to quote a flyer i recently found lying around my room:
FWD>> Oct/Nov 2005
Oct 6
Skream B2B Benga
Hatcha
Heartless
Oct 20
Target
Kode9
Plasticman
Nov 3
Bossman
Youngsta
Jason H
Nov 17
Maximum & Karnage
Hatcha
N-Type
there was more grime - and more eclectic selections - in those four club nights than we've had all year this year at fwd. sorry to go off topic n all, but i'm reluctant to start a new one. especially one about grime with so many 'dubstep purists' (euphemism alert) around
I think you've mis understood what I was saying mate. I like grime and I like the fact that grime artists appear on the bill to mix things up. I would say it's a predominantly dub night though (in recent times anyhow) and I wouldn't want to see that changed because there's a lack of material for the resident dj's to play new sets with every week.

Had a good night but I was screwface for some of it (dunno why) - moody cancerian c*nt!

sorry for going off dude i've just been genuinely frustrated at the lack of grime at fwd this year - it's part of a problem the grime scene is having in general i'm sure: namely, that no-one is playing out much at he moment. i really don't know why. but i do know the balance has tipped from appx 50-50 dubstep/vocal grime to more like 90-10 lately, and i just think that's a shame.
of course there's more than twice as many nights to play with now, so hopefully things will get mixed up a bit as boomnoise says. there is no shortage of dubstep around - take a look at the events page! or just this forum in general!
safe anyway

I get what you're saying though and I think that dub has definately overtaken grime in alot of ways, not least club nights.
