Get your Hotflush downloads here! mp3, FLAC, and .wav

Post by hypnotech » Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:29 pm

Big up Hotflush for joining the team!

http://hotflush.addictech.com/

Essentially the entire Hotflush catalog in all of its full glory :)

Just a few tunes missing, and we'll have them there soon - I just thought that a few people around these parts would enjoy knowing that its up and ready

Keep an eye on the site for updates - and dont forget to check the vinyl area of the site for that juicy dubstep wax

Peace

:dubstep rave:

FLAC stands for "Free Lossless Audio Codec" which means no audio data is lost when it's compressed, a bit like a zip file... So if I'm not mistaken there is no point buying the .wav, it is more expensive and takes longer to download.

If you download the .flac and decode it using a free programme, you should be left with the original .wav file.

Is this correct hypnotech, or are you using .ogg compression on your .flacs?

:z:

FLAC's the way to go. WAVs are for sissies, MP3s are for neanderthals

feck it, just bought 5 Hotflush releases from Bleep this morning. Would have preferred the FLAC.

Maybe the next 5...

You are correct on the FLAC being lossless - and we only use the FLAC frontend to encode them... no ogg here (although I like the ogg format personally)

Although, to be totally honest with you - we sell *A LOT* more .wavs than FLACs....

It is the convenience of it all - people don’t seem to want to bother with the conversion... we are just giving people the option - and they take it - quite frequently

We offer a link to the FLAC homepage here:

Always trying to educate peeps... but some still crave that .wav !

And something else to add to the mix, Ableton supports FLAC natively!

either way, im just excited to hear there are lossless versions out there now...just easier to type "wav" then all that

also, call me bonkers or a sissy, but ive always been a bit sceptical that any type of compression is lossless...but it sounds like FLAC does preserve the audio data and gets rid of non-audio metadata that might be in the wav.

i dont mind the payin the extra $ or waiting the extra d/l time, so to each his own.

in the interest of discussion, though, how do the tunes come from the labels/artists??

Are there any other online sites offering wav downloads?? Bleep only offer flac for about 1% of their catalog.

I'm all for flacs but ableton doesn't support it properly. It still has to convert the flac to wav and put it in the cache, just like it does with mp3's; unless I'm missing some setting somewhere, or maybe it's because I'm still using 5.02

I buy flacs from addictech bacuase i'm a tight tnuc and I'd rather wait the 20 seconds it takes to decode to wav than spend the little bit extra on a wav, plus it downloads quicker being a smaller file.
