Parson! That was really good.
Quite in line, at some points, on the brain activity and the correlation between romantic love and addiction, as I was watching a show on stalkers today that was discussing the same thing.
And which reminded me of perhaps The Science of Love or something equally generic a few years ago. Towards the end, when she discussed at some point biological clues towards why we make the decision towards one individual and not the other...it reminded me of a part in the former series where they discussed that from as early on as about 4-8 years old, we start gathering and assigning strengths to certain attributes, subtly. As if we're creating a map of sorts....of our likes and dislikes. We supposedly gather all this seemingly extraneous information from that early on through our late teens, which seem to contribute to the choice of one individual over the other. How closely the individual satisfies the requirements on the subconscious list we've been adding to since childhood.
Then again, from a linguistics/semantics point of view, I tend to think that the bonds we discover and forge are more demonstrative of how close our individual lexicons match with another individuals. Add in biological attraction to distinguish between friends and lovers (not in the casual sense). The less you have to qualify and explain, the closer you feel....lends to familiarity and comfort which is repeatedly rewarded with each point of similarity. Two personal things: those I am closest with in life tend to be those who comprehend me best with as little back story. And 2. when I hear stories of how people get together, the ones in more solid relationships usually mention the immense sense of familiarity with their partner.....not as if here is this new person introduced to their lives....but more getting reacquainted...like they've always known the individual, just they hadn't met until that point.
sorry to ramble...love is a very interesting subject to me.

but also if you understand that consciousness is the fabric and that love directly affects the fabric fundamentally, you can see how it could transcend a culmination of experiences. like real psychic connections that are experienced beyond subconscious observations and decisions
but yeah its also very much physiological and chemical as well. these connections, as esoteric in origin as you could presuppose, do actually end up a physical reality in your brain wirings

thats a very neat idea. i feel that we (Universal) should have this kind of intimate understanding of a certain individual or a few during our lifetimes. as well as this kind of generalized affinity/appreciation for things around us. but could it be possible to sustain a lover-type intimacy with everything? first, thats an impressively deep connection. secondly, forging that connection with just one individual is exciting, mentally emotionally and physically. what kind of impact on the individual would there be to be that closely connected with everything and everyone else? i think i would fear it....just from the position of having to be that excruciatingly vulnerable.ChristopherA wrote:but also if you understand that consciousness is the fabric and that love directly affects the fabric fundamentally, you can see how it could transcend a culmination of experiences. like real psychic connections that are experienced beyond subconscious observations and decisions

'd luv to win the lottery
and give it, somehow anonymously,
to heaps of people doin' it tuff...
or just nice people yu know would do worthwhile stuff...
farmers and deros and single parents,
unemployed steppas and maimed workers,
couples that can't afford to have kids,
retired factory workers and pensioners
It's a (sigh) beautiful aspect of love: giving over
and just as good to be relaxed with being given to...
None of that compulsion to reciprocate
or feel obligated...
