Having relished the energy of RATM, the experimentation of Sonic Youth and Jazz music, the hedonism of Daft Punk and the funky beats of hip-hop, it was at free parties that Nico and Ben of TAMBOUR BATTANT discovered their passion for rolling bass and broken beats.
Playing and mixing vinyl’s was never an attraction for the duo who were always driven by composing their own rhythms to play live, improvising each performance. TAMBOUR BATTANT is not a group developed by strict electronic production: toying with riffs and gimmicks they manipulate the rigid structure of the music in the same way as jazz musicians.
THE MISSING LINK is the synthesis of four years of live performances: in 17 tracks TAMBOUR BATTANT leaves the confines of pure drum & bass far behind while excellently conserving its most efficient rhythms.
