Yeah, the old ones are for kids, but I think the first one was good as well.

There are negative aspects to the Dark Night, just like all films, so it's not a perfect movie, and there are parts where you wonder why they decided to keep this or that in the final cut. However, I don't think anyone will walk away dissapointed.

Fuck the Imax, saw Bladerunner there a couple of weeks back. Unless you are sitting in the very back row, you are too close to that hench screen. Dun know its all about your own leather armchair with wine bottle cooler built in to the seat and a foot-rest!! Shut it!! :D
6 action scenes in The Dark Knight are filmed on IMAX film which is best suited to the IMAX cinema screens which is why there is a lot of hype around it. It will look amazing.

props to the electric cinema though- that place is great. all about going to the loo still being abole to hear the audio. I saw DJ Shadow's live DVD thing there and he was sitting on one of the recliners at the back. Dun kno the bar in the cinema as well. Should come as standard.

whats the screen size/audio quality like at the electric cinema? I'd assume it's well up to scratch as all the fancy seating would amount to nowt without the actual film looking and sounding crisp.

yea man, cool concept though and the drawings are SICK!

Hmmm I thought "batman begins" was based on "DRK:The Dark knight" and "The Dark Knight" the film was based on "DRK:The Dark Knight Returns" could be wrong though.
as far as i know, the dark knight is not based on any graphic novel, although influenced by the killing joke.

and who can forget Christian Bale's first major role? Empire of the Sun ;)

I didn't rate Harsh Times at all, he was ok in it, but wouldn't recommend it.

One of Ben Stiller's first films as well wasn't empire of the sun?

Christian Bale for me will always be American Psycho - he fits the role so well in my opinion. Really good performance.

No about his accent in corelli's mandolin - laughable..

I didn't realise Stiller was in it as well, good call.

For some reason I hated American Psycho, Bale was good in it, but for some reason it didn't really work as a film for me, maybe becuase it was made so long after the period it was parodying.

See I wonder how much of the praise being heaped on him is due to the fact that he is now a corpse. Maybe I'm being a bit cynical.
:D

Could be wrong, but i thought that Batman Begins was based on Miller's Batman Year One (it's similar in some aspects, like Bats being a bit crap at the beginning, but there's none of that shite with Liam Neeson in the comic. Although, isn't Nesson supposed to be Ra's Al Ghul or something? That character was a dark bastard. Anyone read Son of the Demon where he pushes that Soviet soldier's ribs out through his chest with his fingers??).

I've been out of the country for the past 3 weeks and I suppose I've missed all the Dark Knight hype. But if it's anywhere near as dark as The Killing Joke (I read that book too young and I remember feeling physically sick towards the end) then I'll be in for a treat.

Managed to make it to a late showing of it last night. It was pretty good, though I think I still like the first one better. This one seemed more about the action than about the inner conflicts of Batman....which is ok....you can't be a moping emo superhero *all* the time..but I was hoping they would continue w/ some of the more interesting themes of the first movie.

Ledger was definitly good but...

I'd have to disagree w/ that. I mean even though they were both portraying the same character, they were both playing two totally different people (if that makes any sense), so i dunno if it's fair to compare them. Maybe I'm just speaking out of nostalgia for Nicholson's Joker though. As for Ledger, he owned it, without a doubt.

Nicholson > Ledger.
Nicholson survived a fight with batman.
