Dubsteppers in East Anglia??

Post by hamual » Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:55 pm

Hi, i'm based in Ipswich and have been dj'n for around 6 yrs and playing dubstep for about 18 months now and i am desperate to put on/play at an event in my area, however im yet to find a venue suitable.
I currently play a couple of funk & hiphop nights in town & could do a night in one, but i'm not sure if Ipswich is ready for PubStep just yet! (if i get enough response then i might reconsider!).

If your a promoter, dj or just a fan who would be interested in being involved with this then please post! Hopefully there's plenty of you out there and then we can give this side of the country something to get excited about!

This includes Norwich, Colch, Bury, Caimbridge ETC!!

Thanks

Ramp's office is in Bury St Eds. I DJed in a backwards country pub a few weeks back for a friends birthday and dropped a couple of dubstep tracks. The locals were offended, as they were with the crunk, ghetto house, and pretty much everything else I played. Isn't Sully from Norfolk? I should fight him.

I've dropped tracks at a few nights round town, and they dont go down too badly, but they dont go down too well either. Warmed up some d&b nights too with varying degrees of success. All i can say is I get at least one punter come up to me every time chuffed as f**k to hear some dubstep! It'd just be nice to get all the headz in the area in one room at one time!

Theres a few things happening in Norwich now, mainly at mustard. I've played at Doa nights and they've had Skream, Mala and Plastician with a good crowd.
Play dubstep out when i can and over the years its become easier to do that but it would be great to play somewhere where the system doesn't let you down! Bengas played here aswell and it was rammed. Luke envoy and some others this week i believe.

Didn't Ipswich ban grime nights? I may be wrong.

Wouldn't say it was banned, its just the clubs (theres only 4) have got no interest in puttin on anything else but cheese & rnb. There's a lot of pubs that put on live music and dj's its just makin sure you dont scare off the regulars thats all!

so what headliners would the EA lot like to see play? I'm thinking primarily in Norwich, bearing in mind who's already played/is playing over the coming months.

TRG, Oneman, Komanazmuck, Kode 9, 2562 to name a few would pull me back to Norwich for the weekend but I guess you knew that already Chris ;)

kode 9 was top of my list but unfortunately its not possible at this point in time. one day perhaps. quest/silke would also be very nice and is certainly do-able but do enuf people in nrwch know who they are to attract a decent crowd???
