choose movies that you think other people wouldn't think of, this way you won't be using the same samples as other people...but if you have to ask, i do feel sorry for you to be honest...

Look for movies that have a similar terrain to the thoughts behind your music/views as they'll probably have something more relevant to your tracks.

Personally speaking, I'm going more for films with interesting dialogue and thoughts to them, rather than Hollywood bullshit - I'm interested in morality and the gaps between religion and human nature/action (I'm an atheist so I find belief systems fascinating in their contradictions), so I bought the Abel Ferrara double DVD of The Addiction/The Funeral (both very good films in themselves by the way), and think that there's plenty of samples to be had from both. The dialogue sounds a bit incongruous at times (not sure that gangsters necessarily question their actions in the face of religious ideology), but don't take away from the merits of the films, and also make them good sampling material. King of New York also has some pretty fine lines in it, and explores similar territory.

Should point out that these are pretty bleak movies (particularly the Funeral), so they may not be good summer, video party, get the beers in sort of movies
Hmm....
