now, the answers:
1.Where and when were you born Julien?
i was born on the 4th of june 1977 in France so i'm 31 now
2.What does Krumble mean? and why do you use it?
everybodyknows the crumble cake which i fell in love when i was a student. Youcan put all you want inside: fuits, vegetables, meat... this is asublime and the ultimate cake i think! it's a good definition of mymusic, because i use a lot of different sources and samples, it's likea big mix of a large choice of sounds and beats, so krumble is directlycoming from my sound kitchen!!!!!!!!!
3.The first music reference that you have? Influences?
woa,the very first one? lot of bad and trendy things you heard when you arein high school! but i love classical music, jazz, hip hop, dnbass, idm,reggae... not really surprising in fact... i can play the piano andsaxophone (a little bit), and love all kind of music that make me feelgood:). Really love John Coltrane for example.
4. When you have started to play music? and how you arrive to this point (Raggacore-Breakcore)?
istarted to play electronic music in 1996/97 as a techno dj like all myfriends in my city, we bought 2 technics mk2 and started to play thefew records we could found, cause it was difficult at this time to findsome electro or jungle stuff (except if you were living in Paris). Wheni heard for the first time the famous amen break on an old jungle tapeit was like a revelation for me, cause this kind of music was morecomplex, melodical and exciting than techno. After that i began toproduce some old skool jungle trax on Jungle therapy (a label from agood friend of mine living on the same city)and met Frank Rotator a fewyears after who introduce me to the Ambush, Praxis, Position chromeunivers...
5.When you produce, which is the process? what software or synths?
i'mworking with acid pro, some vst and analog synthz, i'm sampling everykind of music, beats, instruments... i often begin to compose beats andafter playing some bass or using cutting voices...trying to find a goodway to destroy sounds systems hahahaha
6. Do you use samplers or do you think that it,s a kind of theft?
ihave had an old yamaha A3000 sampler but honnestly it was really longand difficult to compose with it... i can't compose an entire tunewithout my computer now, althoug i'm a big fan of analog synthz and ofmy lovely TB303:) but i'm a computer addict because it's the fastestway to compose!!!
7.Which will be your next project?
ihope to finish one day all the trax and remix i promised...and i havenow a funny electro techno project called Kidz On Acid...
8. We want to know too if you use to go to dubstep or breakcore festivals and what do you think about the scene.
Festivalsis a good way to meet different artists and to discover new live act.It is also a good way to drink some free beers and strong alcohol fornothing! Breakcore is a small scene and everybody knows everybody infact, it's always a good thing to meet each other again with artistsyou met before, especially in a big event, but ther's not a lot of bigBreakcore event for the moment, breakcore is just infected a part ofgreat festival like Glade festival (UK), Dour (BE) or Astropolis(FR)...this is the beginning of something i think.
Thank you very much Julien, we see you next 13th of September to celebrate together 'hYbRid 2nd Birthday' in Barcelona with Major Klemt and hYbRid crew.
