Why would you want to jailbreak it?
All the jailbroken hippy phones my friends have are always crashing and having to be restarted. It's not exactly freedom if you're relying on bedroom hackers to update the software to work reliably. One beard freak I know is even trying to run Linux on his iPhone just because he can.
What software will you run under Linux?
Mumble mumble Linux Mumble.
No, what software? What apps or games?
Linux.
Yeah, but that's an OS. It doesn't do much in itself.
Mumble mumble.
Excuse me? Why run Linux?
Mumble mumble.
Etc, etc.

I was just reading about it on the net and wondered if it does work or does just knacker your Iphone. I was planning on 'obtaining' some app's (emulators and such) do you need to hack it to be able to use emu's?two oh one wrote:Why would you want to jailbreak it?

I don't think there are any emus available through the app store yet, but I'm sure there will be in the future. I'd just wait. I want a Speccy emulator so I can play manic miner.Pre-Thought Process wrote:I was just reading about it on the net and wondered if it does work or does just knacker your Iphone. This is the best thing while taking a crap. Really relaxes the bowel. I'm trying to perfect my perpetual motion machine at the moment. I'm almost there.
Monkey ball is disappointing. Tetris is fun, but the controls are no where near as good as a Gameboy with a dpad.
This looks awesome:

erm, it's already available for s60 (s2putty.sf.net, under active development and improved a lot recently) and windows mobile. might be one for blackberry too.Ashley wrote:Heh, I meant SSH'ing from the iPhone itself using a tool similar to PuTTyPre-Thought Process wrote:http://www.tuaw.com/2007/07/23/ssh-on-iphone/Ashley wrote:The only benefit an iPhone would give me was if it was possible to SSH which apparently is possible.

I had one over the weekend.
I paid an obscene amount of money for an unlocked handset, realised I could get it for less than half price if I waited a month for my contract on o2 to expire.
Just bust out with the "I am a dyslexic and find it hard to use" and got my refund. stnuc tried to give me vouchers.
Man, I could go into detail but, TL;CBA
