big up mary , bringing radio 1 into the correct century, as for sds , what do u acctually do for the scene ? mary ann has put 9 months werk into this , each to there own opinion , but the scene would not be as healthy if it wasnt fer the soldiers at the front why do u think dubstep reached australia from our ends . respect where respect is due , the line up was sick

so big love mary ann x .

I don't think it's a DJ's responsibility to play any other tunes than ones they're sincerely feeling.

I also don't think people realize how much work Mary Anne Hobbs puts in behind the scenes - behind the scenes by definition meaning you'll probably never hear about it - and take for granted how influential she's been in bringing dubstep to an audience that wouldn't have heard it otherwise. (Dubstep Warz anyone? Both Sonar festivals? Her show which is primarily bass-heavy music around 140 bpm of late?)

maybe the best response to the basic haters should be to ignore them? :L:
i know it’s hard... but anyway, we know what MAH’s contribution to the sound is... :D:

this thread is about Sonar aftermath… so please send us more picts and videos :)

Mary Anne, will you post a long video of Mala and Pokes destroying it?
listening back to the sets on the BBC1 player is just amazing! You can hear the crowd going crazy drop after drop :N:
yeah, the line up was sick and the night was sick :P:
please come again!

big up from barcelona

I think it's clear to say that drifterman_ you chat some bruv.

MAH - Much respect always.
Been pushing the sound since she heard it.
& as she's been pushing the sound since before you most liekly heard it.

I think you should just accept what aren't able to understand.

Or at least don't join SD5 in feeding his ego at a blatant swing for mah.
It says SONAR PICS & VIDS -
Personally i'd say if you were *LISTENING HARD FOR YOUR MONEY.
Seeing as you're flying out to Barcelona
I'd say catching Mala, Shackleton & Flying Lotus one evening with mah would be a bargain hustle in the sun. I mean as you say judging sound for pound.
What is it that MALA doesn't bring again?
Or was it MAH you were saying doesn't respect the scene.

Cos.. the only person i see her disrespecting the scene here is you & SD5.

MAH _ HIGHLIGHTS WERE SICK LAST TUESDAY.
AND WE'RE LOCK FOR THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.

oh yeh DRIFTERMAN_ & SD5.
before you run gums on MAH.

there's two syllables 'DUBWARZ'

check yourself, wasteman.

anyway - this vid from sonar = http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5gcQ66BsmUk&NR=1

If I'd said a mate's set was cheesy
he'd laugh, take it on board or not
and get on with it.
But now, there's more at stake eh?
Credibility & moula-
which has nothing to do with ds.

MAH met my criticism with some sarcasm;
predictable when someone's efforts are dissed
& their language is being satirized.

Mary-Anne
Don't know you or owe you anything.
I admit that I was being a bit savage
and should've tugged a forelock
cos I occasionally listen to your show.
You have no responsibility for your defenders,
some of whom have shown themselves
to be synophantic twats.
But, as to my basic criticism of the set,
as shown in the vid,
well.....
it's an infinitessimal blip
in a fast receding past.

Cheers. :D:

Ey up people. Bit late on this one, but thought i'd share my DJ set from the Red Bull Lounge at Sonar. Was an ambition of mine to play having been along as a punter a few times before.

Highlights for me were the Fly/Hudmo/Rustie surprise session. Unreal. Shackleton was sick too - literally knocked my mate off his feet.. no lie!

I played Friday 2pm -3pm room was pretty packed and was an awesome experience. Hope you like it!
