[LA] SMOG : Youngsta / Seven / Audio Angel // Aug 2, 2008
The energy in the room last night was something else!
I swear...time literally stopped in that room! The lyrical magic of Audio Angel & Kemst was chilling...straight jawdropping!
Youngx & Seven on the decks...London dubstep proper.
Youngsta can read those dub plates like a book!!! That man is on POINT every time. It's like he's saying "Oh...so you want page 38, fourth sentence down...the part of the story about the smoggy soundstorm? Boom. Right there."
Instant.
Youngsta delivers eveytime.
Seven (Eddy Woo) is a miracle. So full of energy. I'm still in awe.
The energy, the lights, the waving hands, the screaming faces, people climbing the speakers like they were in survival mode - so hungry for more, women soaked in sweat while blessing the sky, everything - AMAZING!
There is one part of the evening that really sticks in my mind. When Youngsta was about an hour into his set...I looked out into the crowd and I felt the room go silent - not literally, just mentally. Everyone was staring, paralyzed by bass. The once-physical movement became a mental movement. I felt like the entire room was thinking and feeling together. Dope.
What can I say...I'm a fanatic.
And it feels so good.
Rita and Jsuave, thanks so much for rescuing me from the depths of Lake Hollywood after work!!! I was so worried I wouldn't make it in time! You are lifesavers! The very best. Sorry I missed you Ricky and DLX. I did my best, but had to pull a 12-hour shift. Ricky, it was great to have you back at SMOG, everyone loves you! DLX, thanks for being the dopest guy around. And big up for bringing Pam! <3
Everyone who came out last night - thank you.
From all of my heart. LA fam (and beyond) is pure unconditional love.
xoxo
