maybe my language was a bit harsh lol. I didn't mean the cat o' nine tails, maybe just locking threads etc...Slothrop wrote:Drifterman has some fair points, though. A forum where n00bs posting repeat threads get "quickly and harshly punished"

Dubstep doesn't have any special or exclusive production methods. I would suggest sending people to wildly different production forums to learn and find answers. Hopefully they will come back with something a little more unique, rather than desperately trying to sound 'scene'.
Perhaps going as far as killing the production forum off (except a single sticky post containing links to a trillion varied music production forums)
Anything to make the music more varied. Like it used to be.

sry 2 hijak dis tread but i need 2 no how 2 make a sick wobble like coki. im using fl and massive. i wanna b a sick producer like skream and av all the women and coke!11!!! brap brap
In all seriousness, I think the production forum does need at least one mod. And the stickies while being informal and fucking' brilliant could do with a new layout, mabey include images to make things clearer for people starting out producing like on this site for example: http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/ ... ory&id=154
And everything covered from the most common frequency's for kicks, snares etc to LFO's and all the way to basic drum patterns (because there have been quite a few threads on people not knowing how to lay drums out)

There's a few good members on here which post some interesting and very detailed post's. They are on here a lot as well. So to me it just make sense to reward them and give them a opportunity to be Mod.its already been said but we need some mods for this section of the forum.
This would be great!I reckon we should rip off DOA and get celebrity producers online for Q and A sessions in which I can ask them how to make wobble and who REALLY flew that plane into the WTC

This part of the forum is turning like the drum and bass arena production forum, which in MY eyes has gone down the pan. There's way too much sarcasm going on. You ask a question and you get some funny fucker being clever twat.
Apart from that, its one my favorite production forums
I think its just something you have to put up with, is there nothing that can be done with the search function?
any such threads need a simple reply linking to relevant information and locked, perhaps a warning that any further laziness will result in a ban of a predetermined time.
+1 for making clearer more distinct and specialised sticky tho.

this forum hardly ever produces good convo or good reads. i sometimes try to answer a question here or sometimes reply something snarky, but both are probably a waste of my time.two oh one wrote:Dubstep doesn't have any special or exclusive production methods. theres a few other forums, where i can sit back and lurk and read threads for pages, while learning a lot.
i'm not sure what the difference is. there are clearly people here that have interesting viewpoints and things to say... i think a lot of them simply dont bother...
was there a time when it was better around here? was it worse? i've noticed some waves of good threads usually starting around some massive complaint about the forum or something, but they disappear quickly.
maybe deleting or locking the repeats and mundane is really the way to go. it may encourage real interesting production talk, which ultimately would indeed help newer producers, whether thats what they were looking for or not.
Heres and idea.
there could be some function instroduced where by MODS can click a seperate lock botton which locks the thread and puts a small message saying something like "your thread has been locked because your question can very easily answered by visiting this (insert link to bible/relavent sticky)" and if the poster genuinly has the will to learn, they will visit this link and hopfuly learn a little more than they were expecting to?

I have 100% faith that any changes the admins / mods make to this sub forum will be for the better
as far as myself being a mod, not really important to me so long as someone is actively moderating
you have to admit, some people were running amok in here for a while, and the mods were clearly absent
only advice I'd give is: everyone come together to frown on the pisstake threads so the forum dosen't get out of hand again
it was truly disheartening to see a part of the forum I care about go to complete shit in 6 months
the people who held it together with proper input and quality threads kept me coming back everytime
glad to see some changes are coming tho
please don't delete this sub forum, I know several people, other than myself who have benefitted greatly from it

I think there are some people who are genuinely trying to make this a good/informative forum. It would be a shame if the production forum was stopped.
There are bare amounts of people hovering/floating over the production forum who aren't members and aint giving anything back. Also a worrying number of people who are using warez.
I put up some presets for massive a bit ago and took em down cos i was sick of the number of people asking why it wasn't working on there cracked version of massive. Makes a wookie want to tear arms out of sockets.
As for the reference to DOA i think a forum like logicprohelp would be a better reference point as it's more professional and frankly more friendly. DOA seems to be full of 'trolls' something this forum is thankfully lacking.
I just think that a bit of organising as mentioned and a moderator would be a step in the right direction.
As for the number of post counts being important that is a crock of shit i don't feel obliged to put as many useless posts as i can in order to get myself upto and above 100. I only post when i feel it will add something to a thread rather than messing it up with useless comments. My 2cents.

good idea but I have seen on other forums that have tried this that people dont really understand what level they are at. I have been guilty of it in the past myself thinking I have just made a tune that is gold and then a week later realised I know fuck allJunglist wrote:How about an 'Advanced Production Section' that links off the Production forum. The link could be placed at the top of the Production forum page, and the description underneath the link could read 'Only for advanced music producers, no questions about wobble or any other stupid topics or your family shall be slaughtered and then publicly disemboweled!!!'![]()
That way all the noobs could make as many threads about wobble as they want and we wont have to care.
An easier way to takle the shit threads on here would be to have more mods who are keeping an eye on this imo.
Have a sticky that has a list of topics that will be deleted would be more user friendly.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
I think that is to do with the type of people who are into this genre of music tbh. It attracts alot of band wagon jumpers who are more into looking cool than the music.NoSpin wrote:

Last year they were into something they call "electro house" and this year its Dubstep cos they heard it on radio1.

problem is that forums are by definition, open. I, for example have only read the 1st 5 entries in this thread because I can't be arsed to go through it all. Sure, there's some usefull information / views in here somewhere but it's overshadowed by lots of empty chat.
at the risk of being elitist, you need an invite-only area for those users who are serious and courteous. let everyone use the forum as they wish or it'll become some sort of fascist zone. then, as users prove their weight, invite them. but be nice and fair about it!

that would be hard to do without pissing off a large number of people:)primate wrote:

a rookie production area and advanced is a good idea but I dont know how to make it work:)

how about just have a thing that appears to all members under a month old that says "DO NOT POST THREADS ON HOW TO MAKE A WOBBLE" every time they start a new thread.
that should stop em!
then it's just a case of making some proper good quality stickies, cos at the moment the Production Bible is full of great advice, but is quite hard to read unless you read the whole thing..
maybe have a sort of seperate website that is completely just the Production Bible, where people can't post replies etc, and with a bit more images and perhaps chapters?
thats my opinion anyway lol

I think you should have a subforum inside this section for the big threads of certain things, like vsts, sample packs etc.
and yeah, lock all the other threads.
