you could bottle these words and sell them as the esscence of dubstep.

there is enough criticisims behind the scenes.
its better to not buy an ep or cd,and not download a mix or what have you.then just come out and say an album is crap.

I see a very distinct difference between criticism, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I'm of the belief that if I'm going to post up what I think on a subject, I'm going to be able to back up my thoughts in some intelligent form or fashion.

That's where the constructive part comes in.. DnB has lost that vibe in my opinion, whereas dubstep (and this forum) still has it. Fair enough, say that you're not feeling a track - that's fine, not everyone is going to like everything - it would be boring if everyone did! BUT - here, people are prepared to say why, if not even offer suggestions as to tweak the tune slightly.

I always prefer constructive criticism over blatant bashing.

However, I don't see how coming onto forums and slagging tunes senseless is going to help.

There are plenty of 'big' tracks by big producers that I'm not feeling by people like Mystikz, Loefah, Skream and such - who are supposedly untouchable according to that quote.

I just don't really see the point in making a big list of them.

Cue "Dubstepforum Montly Bottom Ten: the crappiest productions this month according to ten of the scenes' shite-est DJs" on the music forum.

i think its fair to point out that this sound is the new dog on the block so to speak. it also happens to be fairly successful at the moment. this is going to ruffle a whole bunch of feathers over on dear doa, so take the attacks with a grain of salt. the dnb protection committee on doa is going to lose their f'ing mind over this.

the top ten serves it's purpose down the line, when you can look back at all the big tunes of the year. jesus christ there's some seriously bitter people on this forum. lighten up.

Just as I get bored with the constant bigging up on the forum, I'd also get just as bored with threads declaring such and such as shit, not very good, etc. Pointless really. There can't be a single person who loves 100% of the tunes being made, but that's only to be expected. I mean, it's not like I buy every release with the 'dubstep' tag. But why would/should I justify my preferences on a forum? Who cares?

But I also reckon that the lack of hating/criticism/whatever is partly due to dubstep being a tight-knit community and a large proportion of 'the scene' being on this forum! Either out of politeness, respect, whatever, some people must be holding back on expressing honest opinions simply because the DJs and producers post on or read the forum too.

another gem.
dubstep- trimming the fat off a dnb tune and assembling it into one boring track.

i love downtempo and chill music, but this is one movement/genre that's doomed, unless there's a sudden spike in heroin use.
this guy really knows his roots. I'm only going to listen to him from now on.

the d&b scene is fairly rotten at its core (ie big d&b forums...). i dont think we should model ourselves on them. the reality is there is a high standard of music being made in dubstep right now relative to d&b. so there's less to criticize. plus the core of the dubstep scene, those who have made it what it is today, are decent people - who needs more internal politics?

frankly it's pretty rich coming from d&b in general - i lost count of the number of d&b producers who threw their toys out of their prams when they were criticised at Knowledge. they simply could not take it nor could ever accept the need for it.

I almost always hear a few tunes in a dubstep set that don't do anything for me, but a lot of the time I think its more the style of the tune than the quality of it.

On the other hand all dubstep is shit and everyone who makes it is fucking ugly.

A track may be turd for one person, but a pleasure for the next, all because of the tracks content i.e. its melodies, bass thuds etc.

It doesn't mean anyone is wrong or that it should be globally slated by all. For all the people who do like a tune there's gonna be people who disagree. So who is right? No one because it's that persons opinion.

Artists produce some very good tracks a lot of the time, but I may not listen to 'em cos they aren't hard enough. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work of the track, I just prefer a more aggressive soundscape thats all, and vice versa for other folks' tastes.

As long as it's the person's opinion and they're telling the truth, there doesn't have to be criticism just for the sake of having criticism just to go against the grain, thats stupid.

If you like it, say so, if not say it's not for you. Not a big deal.

I love the way they go on about production values even though it's dnbs obsession with mixdown/engineering that made it so boring

Joke ting is yeah, that DOA thinks being involved in a dance scene involves sitting on their computer and listening to mixes. A lot of them dont go raving, let alone leave the house.
