Who's interested in some Skream and Benga Beats.....

Post by chef » Tue Nov 29, 2005 1:20 am

Who's interested in some Skream and Benga Beats..... to buy in a digital format online??

I'm thinking about setting up a website where you could buy some of Benga and Skreamz latest beats and also some of their back catalogue in a mp3 or wav format to cut onto dub, play on cd, using final scratch or for your car. Instead of just being stuck in only being able to buy lets say 3 benga vinyls a year, there would be much more choice.

Obviously i'll get more artists tunes up there. I think it is a good way for anybody who's always wanted that killer tune they've heard hatcha or someone play on dub and its never been made available them to play themselves, only via a radio set. I've got a few ideas in mind to making it different, for example, limited downloads on certain tracks and much more.... but I just wanna get a ruff idea of peoples interest.

Its not for the money or woteva, it's to get the music we love and make out there, we feel peoples pain in wanting tracks that just aint available at to everyone at the minute......

Has anyone got any ideas or feedback???? All opinions are welcome.....

big up Chef, that's my field of dreams...

...build it and they will come

but make sure some of the money gets to the artist and you have their permission to act on their behalf...

this sounds well wicked...

...might I suggest selling them for a higher price to add value and discourage people from p2ping them

maybe even a monthly subscription/membership fee/loyalty card which will allow for a discounted price if you buy bulk...

are you also gonna open up the shop for any and all producers ???

If you didn't know, i do t-shirts too and can sort out some merch for you. it shouldn't be a problem me being in NZ...

Eazee Dubmugga, some good points there, don't worry the loyal and bulk buyers will get looked after very nicely indeed via the method of deals, maybe buy 2 get 1 free for example, more regular customers would get even more incentives. I'm loking to get the ball rolling fairly soon.......

The way im looking at it, any producers that are up for it are more than welcome to get onboard mate, established or up n coming.
Me and Skream have a batch of producers waiting in the wings nearly ready to get brought through into the mix and are always on the lookout for more talent.

I've also got a few scrappy ideas on how to cut down on p2p file sharing etc coz that would ruin it for the real customers and would make the whole idea pointless.

Keep the ideas and comments flowing my fellow bassaholics, its for YOU!!!

^^^sweet bro...

...pm me an addy and i'll send you a CD of some of our beats

I know it's a mish but if you had scouts on all the p2p networks flagging stuff that could only have come from your site you might even be able to trace the leak if you subtly audiomarked every batch of 10 of the same trax differently then pinged IP addresses to match the source...

...although that would be like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted

this sounds like the bomb shit bro, esp. if artists themselves are in on it,
get pounds in them pockets ... :D

Big Up the Chef !

man I hope you do rock .wavs cos paying for .mp3s is a waste. I personally would never do it, but thats just me tho. Havin the option there is prob. the best way to go, I know dubmugga wouldn't wanna be downloadin all hi-def. .wavs on his dial-up

The limited downloads for each release sounds like a good idea as well.

I hope you get this up and runnin bruv, all the best with it.

The option to buy WAV versions (for a slightly higher premium) seems like a nice idea to me. That would appeal to the audiophiles and vinyl purists - they could cut their own dubs from WAVs.

i am very interested in this! i think both optios are good... slightly higher cost for dub wothy files~ check!
also, this could be a way fi get stuff out there with copyright issues
as well as tracks that aren't slated for release!
hmmmmmm.
please add me to the list of interested parties!

Definately up for this.

Have you considered FLAC instead of wav? http://flac.sourceforge.net/
Lossless codec, but about a quarter to half the size of a wav. You just need a couple of plugins and then can convert to what ever you want once downloaded, full quality wav etc.
Bandwidth ain't cheap so this could help keep it down.

Bleep have used it for a few releases.

Yep, .wavs please, I'll happily pay a few pennies more.
