Interesting read as always.

Anyone know if and when the LD/Cluekid tunes will be coming out? My guess would be on Ringo?

''Dubstep's attention to audio quality, production values and formats smacks of both audiophilia and drum & bass' wood-for-the-trees pit trap of confusing sound engineering with ideas. But qualified attention to audio detail is to be both commended and will be good for the genre, as long as it's not ultimately valued over musical ideas and emotion itself.''

"I can only think of one pro for using these digital mediums. Digital mediums are shock resistant. They can be used well in rocky terrain, e.g. a moving boat party, playing on a train; back of a truck etc. this cannot be done with vinyl."

lol, fuckin ell, would have to be pretty narrorminded to see this as the only pro for digital mediums.

imagine the monitoring/feedback/acoustic issues with 5.1 :o

maybe it will force clubs to fix up with the whole "lets spend £5000 on decor, then maybe think about the DJ a bit if we get the time" problem that is rife in this country

The guy who mastered many of Bob Marley's singles and albums has a lecture on mastering. Have a look, it's very informative.

while i understand digital is 1s & 0s and a cds audio is then by default on some right angle shit rather than a wave and then stores less quality info than a vinyl can.... if something starts as a cd, of some music made on a computer, doesnt that basically negate any arguments of superior sound quality, besides the couple processings the signal is put thru between the cd & lathe?

the 'feel' yeh, but can you technically make something out of something that isnt there to begin with?

not tryin to be a pain in the ass, just wondering...

A properly mastered Vinyl Plate has much more depth than a CD, and that has to do with the ability of the Vinyl to 'relay' a mid-range of frequencies to sound... to bring them out in the Wave that the same digital master on CD cannot... but I cant tell you exactly why that is.. I think it has something to do with the needle on the record, tbh, because the two are the same master, but the vinyl sounds much more dynamic.

I'm sure Transition J can weigh in on the subject.. where he at?
