YOURE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT GOVNA!
I'M NOT PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO "DIGITAL" ATTAL.
I'M A BIG TRADITIONALIST AND PURIST WHEN IT COMES TO REAL SOUNDCLASHES.
THE ONLY WAY I SEE IT...IF YOU ARE A TRAVELLING DJ OR IF YOU'RE DOING MAJOR OVERSEAS GIGS...OK...SERATO CAN BE OF GREAT USE.
BUT COME ON...if I see any of dem BIG BWOI SOUNDS USE IT...I WILL QUIT AND CALL IT A DAY.
JAH SHAKA...KING SHILOH...ABA SHANTI...JUST TO NAME A FEW STILL ROCK THE ONE TURNTABLE IN THEIR SOUND(for those who don't know about the fore-mentioned these soundsystems are still in action and have stood through years in the ROOTS ARENA).
SO YEAH I'M LOOKING AT IT TRADITIONALLY.
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE DUSTING YOUR PLATES AND MAKING SURE CARE IS INVOLVED IN YOUR EQUIPMENT.
YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST USE A BELT-DRIVE TABLE WITH SERATO.
FUCK DUMMY PLATES.
CRATE DIGGING IS AN ART AND THE "KIDS" WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND IT.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR MUSIC THAT WAY..INSTEAD OF GOOGLING IT .
WHEN I WAS GROWING UP WE DIDN'T HAVE THE INTERNET OR DOWNLOADABLE MUSIC...WE HAD TO FIND IT,RESEARCH IT, ORDER IT OFF A CATALOG, AND WAIT.
MIXTAPES WERE THE ONLY INSIGHT TO A DJ OR SELECTA AND HIS/HER MUSIC.AND THERE WOULDN'T BE A SONG LIST.
I Kept the SHOVEL IN HAND YUNNO?
NEW WORLD, NEW TIME, AND NEW MUSIC WE ARE IN NOW.
I CAN'T CHANGE THAT, I CAN ONLY KEEP REMINDING MYSELF THAT TECHNOLOGY WILL ULTIMATELY KILL OFF ALL TRADITIONAL MUSIC MAKERS AND PURISTS AND RINSE IT'S IDEALS INTO THIS GLOBAL ECONOMY.
I WOULD HATE FOR THIS MUSIC TO DIE TOMMORROW.
AND IT WILL BECAUSE OF TECHNOLOGY.
YOU GOT HOUSE DJ'S,DNB DJ'S,JUNGLISTS DOIN THE CROSSOVER CUZ THEIR MUSIC DIED.
I CAN STILL PULL OUT MY ROOTS,DUB,STEPPERS,ROCKSTEADY AND RAM UP THE DANCE IF DUBSTEP DIED...CUZ IT'S TIMELESS MUSIC.
I CAN'T SAY THAT FOR NEW MUSIC.
NO BEEF WITH ANYONE...BUT IF YOU TELL ME TO "SHATAP" LIKE MR.FELIXGASH DID, THEN NATURALLY YOU GET A BITCH SLAAP.
AT THIS POINT I COULD CARE LESS BOUT THE NEXT SOUND BWOI.
RASPECT TO ALL OUTERNATIONAL SOUNDS THAT ARE KEEPING THIS ART ALIVE AND BELOW THE WORLD OF DJAYING.

you are casting alot of judgement based on dogma, and its gonna just limit your own enjoyment.
watch for the fruits of the works..
i disagree with you completely as far as music dying and all that.. if anything digital has revived traditional music the world over, with more and more shine for all styles everywhere.
digging isnt a lost art, it JUST BEGUN!
ill admit, i like the sound of a plate spinning back more than a cdj, but if you lsten/watch any big clashes from the past few years, its cdj business...
enjoy your vinyl, experiences, & knowledge learned... but overstand the path you walked isnt the only path to the dance...

Have got torq, which uses MsPinky timecoded vinyl..
That said, I'm quite taken with using a Numark NUVJ midi controller in torq...
Loving having all the cuepoints...
