this thread actually had a very valid and legitimate complaint from a decent number of regular female posters that should have been taken more seriously, considering the discrimination leveled with dismissing the women and what they put up with being here.

calling it a thread for the sake of arguing gives short shift to the female ninjas experience and valid complaints and demonstrates a slightly misogynistic slant. discrimination is discrimination. so how this ends up as a jokes catch all i don't understand.

kinda distasteful in and of itself. sorry for the unfavorable opinion. just stating what i see.

again, what discrimination was there in the post apart from the thread title? which we all agreed was bad and yet the argument carried on and on and on. and that's why it became the arguing for the sake of arguing thread

as has happened today people don't seem able to let an argument go and it's just ends up being a parody and whatever the initial argument was gets lost

The insinuation that a dismissal of the complaint is 'discrimination' is pretty offensive.

parson's thread started as a parody, hardly suprising what it turned into

I felt the initial argument was moving away from the thread title, it is a pity it didn't break away fully coz it is an interesting debate.

Do people really get offended on this board? This entire subforum(edit: sorry, subforum, not message board) has (NSFW) tagged to it!

*plays Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" for the entire thread*

people seem to have forgotten that this is (was?) a place for fun and laughs. now it's just pathetic arguments and people driving their points home without giving a fuck

contrary to what goebbels said, if you say something loud enough and long enough, people stop listening

edit before the lynch squad arrives: i'm not calling women's valid complaints pathetic

It's funny, 'cause honestly, I think the most concern I've ever had on this message board was when I heard you got shot at.

I don't want to Ned Flanders this place to death or anything, but yeah, peeps really need to just take a moment and reflect, watch something smart-assed or something.

it wasn't so much the "we agree its in bad taste" as much as it became "you women are making a big deal over something we don't see to be a problem. yeah its in bad taste but to complain about, thats ridiculous." thats the difference.

stop being so combative because i'm not fighting with you. i'm just stating that that was the reason some women were peeved. not just the title, but the way our fellow ninjas insisted it was something that wasn't a big deal.

put it this way.

if the title of the thread had been "Fucking Black People!" and someone had went on in the thread to say, "Not the ones here. Just some out there," do you honestly think people would have been all, "Well yeah its distasteful but you're honestly making too big a deal of it" if black people were offended? I really don't think that would have been the case. And if the offended black people were sore about it, would fellow ninjas have been all, "You're too sensitive," et al. or would they have come down on those who didn't understand? Actually....considering the climate here right now, I actually don't want to know the real answer to that question, because I'm not quite sure anymore.

Perhaps that makes it a bit more clear. We're all people. Some are women and some are men. Some are black and some are white. Some are poor and some are wealthy. So why can't we give equal consideration considering that?

Again, not arguing, so I'd appreciate a similar response and respect as I'm giving. Thank you. :)

There were always arguments, it was just that the jokes were funnier.

i fully agree. some of the comments people make about women and many other things on here really bother me, as i'm sure they do other people. all i'm saying is that aside from the thread title, the post wasn't sexist or offensive, which obviously still means the thread title was offensive but then anyone going on to read the actual thread would surely realise it wasn't an attack on women (or so you'd hope anyway...)

to be fair, i was quite pleasantly surprised at how a lot of gents actually spoke up saying they weren't cool with some of the stuff in the hideout. i didn't really get a chance to say that just because i wanted to get as far away from this thread as possible. but its actually heartening to know that you guys feel it too at times.

i stick up for men on a regular basis because not all men are the worst of their gender. and i've met a lot of really great guys, one which i plan on keeping forever. and more often than not, most of the male ninjas i've talked to are really stand up guys. i honestly don't like fighting. as many bad guys as there are out there, there are plenty of good ones, most of you included. so can we all just squash this please? i respect a lot of you. all this fighting is starting to darken how i see this place and i don't want it to be that way either.

i miss forum games now more than ever.

To be honest alot of people on here get really really deep about shit. Some pass that off and just head for generic threads.

I can understand why your pissed off but then on the other hand you gotta remember not everyone on here is up for talking about shit so deep that it makes the titanic look shallow.

to be honest that's largely why this place has lost most of its charm. i used to come here and properly laugh out loud at things and usually make an utter tit out of myself at work on a daily basis, and then on the other side of the coin used to have really intellectually stimulating and interesting discussions/arguments about stuff. now it's the sort of pointless fraff that puts daytime TV to shame and arguments that go round in circles until i want to kill people

each to their own though. someone's always going to be unhappy in any situation
