Can someone please explain to me the artistic value of Sgt Poke's MCing?
He's done some great stuff on vinyl, I don't deny it, but dubstep mixes don't need him blurting randomly over the top.
Was it just to ruin the mixes to stop downloads?

I really don't get it!

Eg, the dubstep artist fades his mix to a quiet section.."QUIET BIT" blurts the MC.
Some dirty bass kicks in "UrGH DIRTY" blurts the MC.
There's some MCing on the dubstep mix.. The MC starts blurting random crap over the top.

Completely ruined Cyrus's mix.

I just wanna hear the music!

Yeah, I like that stuff as well. The previous Dubstep Warz artists chose the people to go on Generation Bass, so I suppose not everyone was gonna be happy.

Hummm... I don't agree with you... This music is being played live... The MC just say what he's feeling in the moment... If you really want to hear songs with no rhymes... It's simple... Just buy them... Besides this... If you began to listen to some Dub, Reggae, sound system culture music... You'll find out that MCs play an important role on them...

A live situation is completely different.

And you can't buy the mixes as played on MAH's show

I have no problem with what Pokes was doing but I am curious.....
Are there any Dubstep MCs that actually do any writing?
I'd love to hear some more intricate rhymes with a little content.
Something along the lines of the way MC Conrad does his thing.
DRS is another one who comes to mind who always seems prepared on the mic. I can do without the GQs of the world.

Yeah I agree, I like MC's on live shows, but they really ruin all these kind of radio mixes for me. I mainly just listen to radio shows to hear what's new, but all the chatting keeps me from truly vibing to it and playing it over and over again.

I do buy the music I like and having clean radio shows won't keep me from buying the records when they're released. It just means I can listen to the music I like without having to mix/put on a new record every 5 mins.

That's why I really appreciate the few mixes that get posted without any kind of chatting on them. Like the stuff Tranquera does, Kode's sonar mix, headhunter stuff, Bunzero's mixes, ....

P.S: I don't see the problem with "dj's" ripping the music if it's below 320 kbps and the tunes are being mixed...

Apart from that rant, this was an excellent show with lots of great tunes.
Looking forward to hearing em live..

He wasn't even all that mouthy, I could give you 1,000 examples from DnB that were far more offensive.

easy bro. when I first started listening to dubstep radio shows I wasn't too much into folks speaking over the music.. I quickly grew to love it about as much as the music, what with jokesters such as n-type, skream and mr pokes. it reminds you that the djs and producers are just people and not musical deitys (sp?). also, it lends some warmth to dubstep's austere nature.

nowadays I'm used to the chat so if I want to hear it, I just do. if I don't, I'm able to tune it out.
