personally i hardly ever boost my EQ at all.

if you are having problems with your sub distorting then i would suggest hi passing everything else in your track (even things like hi hats) to make room for the sub. then you won't get build ups in a certain frequency range that will cause clipping.

audio clip would help too :)

less is more

turn down your mix

cut off the low freq's for EVERYTHING but your bass

and dont go crazy with your EQ

it's also a possibility your monitors / speakers / headphones are blown so render your best mix and listen on other speakers

james and fstz are right on. highpassing or low cutting everything that isn't your sub is crucial. A spectral analyzer is an absolute necessity while doing this. Some DAW's have them built in and there is a really good free one out there by Roger Nichols.

As fstz stated, your cans or monitors maybe distorting, not the track.

Also, 135 seems a little high for subs man. That's right around where your kick should be hitting. My subs are always under 100. It's possible your kick and sub are clashing. Like I said, spectral analyzer. Then you can see exactly where everything is sitting and what's spiking possibly causing distortion.

INSTANT BANGIN SUB BASS!

I wish I could show you the curve, but I'm at work...

and the sub police might come after me for giving away guarded secrets

+1 on lowpass.. around 100hz

also, TURN IT DOWN. just because you have trouble hearing it doesn't mean it's not there. if you put that shit on a bangin system with good subs, i guarantee you will hear that low end especially if the system has a good x-over.
