That's neat Detroit sounding stuff. Fifthy. I'm not sure about those drums, though. They feel like another layer on top of the track, not a layer inside the track. I think it's in serious need of a mix.
Dreadskank has a great progression, though. Nice squelches.
I heard some good oldskool Electro stuff the other day. I'll try and find it again.

Ironically, broken beat was more futuristic >5 years ago than it is now. So it's best to dig for some older stuff:
Definitely check most releases on this label
http://www.discogs.com/label/Archive+(Italy) - especially #1, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 17
Also some releases on 2000 black are pretty techno, esp. the first few
http://www.discogs.com/label/2000+Black
Most of Titonton's stuff is good
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Titonton+Duvant%C3%A9
I'd urge you to cop this 12 by Domu & Volcov
http://www.discogs.com/release/150551
This compilation by Volcov explores the links between broken beat and technosoul
http://www.discogs.com/release/90898
Scattered Snares compiled by Marc Mac is essential as well, pt 2 is coming soon btw
http://www.discogs.com/release/66236
Also, Marc's releases as Nu Era are the epitomy of broken techno.
Fairly unknown, but brilliant is Splinterfaction
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Splinterfaction
And get all of Aardvarck's freaked out gems
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Aardvarck
Great technolabels with several broken/experimental releases in their catalog are Delsin and Emoticon.
I could go on for hours, but this should keep you busy for a while.
And if you have time left after checking all the above,
you may want to try my album as well.

yea I'd second the Titonton & Nu Era recommendations in particular for the techy sound, and John Tejada as well - he did a wicked 12" on Fenetik which never leaves my bag (http://www.discogs.com/release/81671), and a quality collab with Titonton on Amalga (http://www.discogs.com/release/184544).
Twisted Funk is a pretty interesting label for this sorta stuff - http://www.discogs.com/label/Twisted+Funk - the Somatik releases were pretty good but the pressing was of very variable quality. The Nu Era 10" double pack was good too.

also check out the old reinforced releases from 7/8 years ago...
alpha omega (nubian minds)
sonar circle (domu)
gforce & seiji (marc force & Seiji/Opaque,etc..)
we were doing a lot of different tempo stuff on bsides & on our albums/compilations b4 the term 'broken beat' even existed so these were,in some way, a precursor to the early sound.

bit of an old thread but i thought i'd add a few recommendations...
San Francisco producer Sutekh has been making fantastic broken techno for years - see here for starters...
http://www.discogs.com/release/16431
Also see Perth producer Dave Miller (now part of Warp band Pivot) who released a brilliant album of minimal broken beat called 'Mitchells Raccolta' ...
http://www.discogs.com/release/421607
Lastly the early recordings of South African techno producer Portable have an addictive, bumping Afro swing - check...

i was never that into the broken sound when i first came across it in the late 90s. nubian mindz and 2000 black stuff always tickled my fancy though.
one tune that always flipped my wig was 'transcend me' by afronaught.

Been waiting for this tune for so long.
Quality. Thats getting bagged.
This was another reason i was pissed at J Da getting axed off 1xtra - he used to play a pretty decent selection of broken beat along with the dubstep and garage stuff.
