Mixed feelings. I used to love the place but the smoking ban really fucked it up.

Yeah, Fabric are opening a club in the O2 but apparently that's supposed to be mainstream.

this is happening in nyc too. they close down the venue, demolish the building and then build a block of condos.

you can blame lots of things, but density and insurance are usually the culprits. in these days of taking actions over everything and calling your lawyer before calling your doctor......venues have to pay top dollar for liability insurance just to survive, and then add to that the issue that all the major cities are facing the density crisis....its a dire situation.

rather than build outwards into the suburbs, they build upwards. this is happening across the planet...tokyo, paris, london, new york....same story.

yeah, but even in the suburbs of london where i live they are doing this, knocking down pubs etc and building horrible apartments on top that look completely out of place :|

i was never a fan of the end but its sad to see another legendary venue close its doors. will there be anywhere left in 10-20 years time? :\

exactly

they did the same thing in 2006 here in DC and closed Nation (huge EDM club) and built a fucking office building, condos, and baseball stadium there.

I had plans to go down to a night at the end + SE1 later this year as well, oh well. Is SE1 getting shut down?

nooooo this is where they do FWD> right?
I was told to check FWD> at the end because the acoustics are better than DMZ and it will break your face with bass.

FWD has been at the end.

And Rinse Vs FWD.

I'm just glad I grew up and experienced proper clubbing. Feel sorry for the your of the future.

that's a shame, i used to really enjoy the end. ram records, renegade hardware & chew the fat were such good nights. obviously you couldn't drink much in there unless you owned half of kensington, but the sound system was heavy, the crowd was always happy and it was ten minutes walk from where i used to live :D

smoking ban definitely fucked it up though :x
