Top 5 DJs In The Scene...?

Post by swiftguyver » Sat Sep 06, 2008 5:45 am

in your opinion who are the 5 most skilled djs involved with the dubstep scene?

don't worry about putting them in order...

for me it is probably...

Youngsta
N-Type
Chef
Hatcha
Oneman

also gotta give mad props to Plastician...

Nobody comes close to Youngsta imo, neither technically or selection wise.

Mala's sets are always emotional.

Hatcha brings vibes and is ridiculously tight.

Pinch, consistent quality - his sets have always got some well thought out progression too.

Kode 9, top quality selector.

There are only a handfull of DJs I get excited at seeing, I'm pretty sick of that seamless dubstep for an hour mixed to perfection thing. Djing is so much more than being an amazing beat matcher and seamless on the EQ, if I know what tune (or kind of tune) is gonna come next before you've even put it on the platter then it's a fail and I'm outside chatting to the smoking crew.

Kode 9's selection is amazing, always. One of those DJs that makes you stay on the dancefloor for the whole set even though you're busting for a piss cos you just don't want to miss whatever he might put on next.

Martyn has the same effect, but I've not seen him half as much.

Oneman makes a sick party, everytime. Smiles and bassfaces on the whole room.

I really like the way Walshy mixes, energy building in waves sorta, really keeps you properly dancing.

I haven't danced as much as I did to N-Type's garage set at FWD the other night in yonks. That may have been more to do with the tunes but he's sick as anyway. It's been an age since I saw him playing Dubst though.
