So i got booked to dj for the first time in 2 years..

Post by wes » Thu Sep 11, 2008 10:04 pm

So i've played records (dnb/jungle) since 2000 and i stopped djing at the start of 2007. oddly enuff the last gig i played at was in portland with Roommate and him and noah d played some of the fattest dub ive still ever heard. The reason i havnt been playing is i really havnt been feeling any new drum & bass. so im booked to play a set of old skool jungle but i think im going to play 1/2 dubstep along with it. i really hope the crowd dosnt throw rotten eggs at me. junglists can be very jaded.

i think tes la rok and coki can change their minds tho.

I would say mala, cluekid, chefal, Cotti, Synkro, LD more likely to convert them?

Congrats mate but if i was you play jungle not dubstep. There is hardly any jungle nights these days, they are quite rare but there is a fair bit of dubstep gwaning. Play the jungle because id be gutted if i turned up and it was like OLD SCHOOL classic jungle set thinking hmmm 92-94 era and it was like 96-98 drum and bass. I wouldnt be AS pissed if it was a mix up between jungle and dubstep but if i pay to go see jungle i want my jungle.

yea personally i would say start with some dubstep and kick in the jungle, that will leave the dubstep-n00bs itchin, and the junglists satisfied 8)

If your booked to play at a DnB rave I wouldnt reach for the deeper side of Dubstep myself, they are DnB heads after all and I dont (from expirence) thihnk they will feel the deeper side.

I'd go with your impact Dubstep myself, Coki's, Tes's, Rusko's and the likes as it will be fresh as hell for em, in their face and most of all will be similar to DnB in the sense of the basslines ;)

IMO tho!
