You're going in the right time/direction to avoid the worse fares, i think if you go from clapham junction (get there on ur oyster) it's a lot cheaper... but worth checking. and if either of the two journeys is a peak time, get two singles:)
aye real sorry dara but i can't stay sat. night as well, going to some car thing with my dad on sunday, so i have to be back so i can get up early on sunday morning to set off for that (gonna be a sick weekend all in all!!) however i can still stay pretty late as i don't think the last coach is until about 9.30 or 10...
safe for the train info

if I remebre right, isn't there a little station on the down Brighton with no gates etc? sure I jumped the train down there then got a 5p ticket from one of those machines, you know the ones wich allow you to travel anywhere till you get asked for a ticket, then you pay the remainder?
edit: thinking about it that is prob on another line as I was traveling from croydon that time.

preston park - its about 40mins walk from mine, probly about half an hour to the volks.... defo worth a go - but be wary cos the inspectors onboard are on the ball! (toilet hideouts dont always work)
a bus from there is about 2 quid i think....
