Post by wobbler. » Wed Sep 17, 2008 12:50 pm

It's great to see dnb artists such as Chase & Status, Benny Page, BSE etc all producing dubstep now! Nothing I like more than dnb influenced dubstep!!

I think both tunes are pretty good. I've defiantely heard worse from Dubstep only producers............

Alot of Dubstep producers and DJ's seem to have come from DnB so why is there negativity when a DnB act make Dubstep?

If only LTJ Bukem got into dubstep, how sick would that be.
strip it down, reveal the elements

I like both tracks but theres nothing to make them stand out from what other D&B producers that make dubstep are doing atm. D&B producers tend to play it safe when it comes to Dubstep I think. Id like to see Logistics spin on dubstep, I dont think he's scared to experiment which he showed on his last LP.

Some of my favorite dubstep producers are former DnB producers, so I'm not generally negative towards them.

But it seems like too many DnB acts come to dubstep and make something that's technically very well made and tight sounding but basically quite generic and predictable.

I dunno, maybe it's because high production values and generic sounding tunes are the norm in mainstream dnb these days or maybe it's because they don't want to be rejected by the scene for being 'not proper dubstep' or maybe it's because they just haven't had time to look into the whole scene and see what a variety of stuff is going on, but I'd kind of hope that someone bringing really good production skills and diverse musical interests and influences to the sound would be able to do something more unique and original. Like Martyn or Breakage do, for instance...

if you're going to make dubstep that sounds like dnb, make it sound like your first album please.

I think whether these guys are producing the best possible Dubstep they can or they are just finding their 'Dubstep production feet' they should be given the same chance as eveyone else.

If these tracks had been put up by a 'Forum Head' I'm pretty sure the response would of been different.................I could be wrong though............
