It all depends innit :)

It's unlikely that this sort of thing happens, let's get that out of the way - especially in something like dubstep. But with, say, a rock tune, it's not unheard of to snip the chorus and raise its level by a little bit to 'lift' it if it helps the song. You might need to snip a bit out, ease it back not to push the compressor so hard and then nudge it back up after to keep level without so much comp in that section, or the opposite for more, or eq that bit up but only that bit, blah blah. This kind of thing is generally quite unusual though!

Sorry this is a bit vague! Basically it's almost impossible to say what would be done without having track in front of you. No presets in mastering, everything is taken on an individual basis ;)

It all depends innit :)

Do you also do a service for £25.50 which basically involves putting the submitted 'track' straight in the recycling bin and creating something entirely new in its place which is actually worth mastering?

If so, I might have a cheque with your name on it.

I can do the recycling bit as a special deal, just for you, at only a tenner per track.

Can't say fairer than that. :6:

Thanks to everyone in here for the kind words too. Been enjoying the stuff I have had through this forum so far, and everyone's been very nice which is a result. Funnily enough I have had as much 'other' stuff as I have dubstep :D

Keep em coming! :)

Cheers,

Bob.

Might have to check this out. In addition to the clips, if there is anyone who has had work done with this guy, can you please upload the original, as well as the mastered full versions of the tune, so we can take a listen to more than a clip?

I wanna get the full impression if you know what I mean.

Hello there :)

Don't be shy to address me personally :) :D I'm a nice bloke, honest guv :6:
I wanna get the full impression if you know what I mean.
Thinking about the stuff that has come through this forum, depending who replies, you could get anything from drastic surgery to extremely subtle adjustments to a great mix. That's assuming someone is happy to upload a full wav of their tune of course.

So without wishing to be too blunt, why not try just it out man? :) Nothing to be afraid of, no commitment etc... Noone ever has to pay a penny until they are happy with the approval clip. This is the best way to get the full impression.

The approval clips, by the way, are much longer (usually 2mins or so) than the very short clips on the site. They're short cos of artist permissions, download times etc. I wouldn't expect someone to make a judgement based on ten seconds!

Point is, while we only send clips for approval, you'll get a much better idea when it is your tune being dealt with :) The only 'hassle' you have is to hit me by email, mix down the tune appropriately, and send it over.

Hope you get where I am coming from :)

Cheers,

Bob.

BTW I am well aware that can be read as me being very pushy for business  I don't mean it that way - it really is the best way to check it out properly.

I meant more along the lines of on Myspace or Virb.

To be clear, is this the same service being potentially offered by Trans******? Or is this full Mastering for Vinyl or Digital release?

I'm interested in getting a fully Mastered tune back mainly. But you're right though. The best way is to give it a shot. I'll get a clean mix down on the tune I'm thinking about and see what we got.

Ah I see what you mean.

Personally I wouldn't base any judgements on the rancid atrocity that is the myspace encoder though (don't start me off  ) Ahem, sorry

This is not the mp3 dubplate thing that they are suggesting in that thread. I do a full service, with approvals and adjustments if necessary, not just a flat pass through my analogue chain. I can't cut vinyl but I can do and have done pre-prep for vinyl cutting. I have several releases (albeit drum n bass) at home that have been through my studio that sound lovely on vinyl. This has worked well for people who want to release vinyl on a very tight budget, getting mastering done through me and cutting done at a cheap place in NL/Germany (and one other place, I forget where).

I MUST state (I think I said this already) that if money is no object, I'd still send people to Transition. I am a big admirer of their work and I say that sincerely as a geek. We're a cheaper alternative to them, read that however you will :) All I can say is that the people who have been through here - as demonstrated by posts in this thread - have been very happy with what they've got for their money :)

Hehe, you seem a little hesitant man - don't worry. I ain't looking to mess up your tune, take your money and retire to the Bahamas (on 25 quid) :6: I'm serious, several people here know me personally and know I don't f#ck about. I'm just trying to start a business in something I am passionate about. Things have been going well, and it would be nice to add to the growing customer base :)

Again, hope you get where I am coming from... I certainly don't wish to appear aggressive or anything like that :)

Cheers,

Bob.

I sent a tune to Macc (a will be sending more) unfortunately as it is due to be released I won't be uploading clips and as Bob said you wont be able to hear much difference on Myspace. All I can say is it was worth every penny - I was very happy with my mix but Bob has added a little bit extra to make it sound superb- just go for it at the end of the day you don't have to pay him if you're not happy.
